Default Good News from NYC

Saw this editorial in the NY Times today and think that the
information in it is very enheartening.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/08/op...ml?ref=opinion I
think that more governments need to work to keep sickerettes out of
the reach of children since, as most of us have written, we started
smoking before we were 18.

Excellent article Mike, thanks for the post. I totally agree with getting
the nastymissles out of kids reach. Was shocked when I read this part of the
article

Experts attribute the reduction to a comprehensive approach that included
raising the combined state-city cigarette tax to $3 a pack - one of the
highest in the nation

I thought TX was bad. I am certain that rising the cost will deter many !!
It worked on me here with only a $1 raise in taxes in 2007.

NicoDemon Free for One month, three weeks, six days, 10 hours, 4 minutes and
56 seconds. Didn't smoke 1722 cigarettes so far, saving $292.84 for
motorcycle or puter parts. Extended my life expectancy at least: 5 days, 23
hours, 30 minutes. I put my last one out on Nov 11th 2007 @ 10:03 PM and
will not cheat a single smoke.

That;s a great start~! what will that bring up the price too Mike?
they started with the price here then went to making it illegal for minors
( under 19) to buy them, then smoking bans to now the whole province is
going to start ( or started already ) making it illegal for anyone to smoke
in a car with kids under the age of 19.
I think every little bit we can help our kids not to get hooked on this
habit is a good thing

Instead of taking 11 puffs of smoke, FlatIronMike spoketh upon us:

Yay for NY kids! Only 8.5%! This is promising!
