| | | Hello group. Hello group,
This is my first post to this newsgroup. I'd like ask if I'm the only
one who thinks the '3 days 20mins 40secs' signature bar used by some
contributors is contrary to the type of mindframe required to quit
successfully?
I find smoking cessation a fascinating topic and feel that Allen Carr
saved my life.
I was fortunate enough to pick up his autobiography as I passed a
bookstore clearance table one day, I had seen it on the table
occasionally over the course of the previous week and finally gave in
to curiosity and picked it up. I credit that decision as one of the
single most important of my life.
To be honest I didn't actually realise until I'd almost finished that
this was not a 'quit smoking' book but was instead only an
autobiography, I thought his life story was a big lead up to an advice
section I would find in the last chapters.
Allen Carr's story inspired me to attempt to quit smoking for the 10th
time or so (I stopped counting my failed attempts after a while so
don't have the exact number). I immediately ordered his 'Easyway' book
which took several weeks to arrive via. Amazon. By the time the
Easyway book arrived I was still not smoking but I was sorely tempted
at times to light up again. With Easyway I was able to understand the
trap I was in and embrace my future as a non-smoker.
I'm sure you're all well aware of the Easyway system and have probably
discussed it to death at some point in the past but I'd just like to
officially add my name to the list of Allen Carr success stories and
wish you all the best with the approach you choose.
xx months, xx hours, xx minutes and xx seconds. xx cigarettes not
smoked, saving xx. Life saved: xx weeks, xx days, xx hours, xx
minutes.
The numbers are in the past, along with the cigarettes. |

Everything is contrary to some people. Some people find it helps to have a
reminder, or a motivation that records progress. If you don't need it
great, it isn't compulsory. I feel the same about eating sweets (candy), or
chewing gum. If I did that, every time I put a sweet in my mouth I would
think "I'm having a sweet, but I would prefer a smoke".
Alan Carr has helped many people quit. Didn't help me though, but I would
not seek to undermine those he has helped.

| | | Re: Hello group. Way to go you!! As far as the numbers and mindframe, it has been my
experience that it takes all kinds. I think it's wonderful that you found
the help you needed with Allen Carr. I haven't read his book but there are
others here who, I'm sure, have shared your experience.
My purpose here is not to share opinions but experience, in the hopes of
encouraging others. So, again, GO YOU!!!! Whooohooo!
With hope and heart,
Kathleen

Welcome to AS3..
I haven't read that book, but quite a few around here seem to like it.
I'm gonna check it out some time.
Hope you hang around awhile. |
