Default Help, plllleeeeaaassssseee

If I don't stop smoking real soon, I'm going to go completely nuts!!

I think about it all the time but the longer I go without a smoke, the
more I want one - to the point where I just can't resist. I just can't
get past that point and I'm finding it very frustrating. Please give
me any advice to help.

Thanks.

Nope. None off us did and neither will you. Drink a big glass of icy
water, take a few deep breaths until you start fainting out, and after
that go to sleep. I guarantee you it will help.

Have you read the FAQ at www.quitbuddies.org ?
When have you quit? How did you quit? Help us help you :-)

Welcome to AS3, Bakerboy! We are all here to focus on getting and
remaining smober. As Tihomir suggests, read the FAQs we have
developed at www.quitbuddies.org as they have a load of information
about quitting and how to remain that way. Read and post here as much
as you can as you will find you are not alone with the craving and
triggers that are part of quitting. Let us know more about how you
quit and we can give you more insights.

Bakerboy ... welcome!

What you're trying to resist is a crave ... caused from nicotine
withdrawal.

The crave *WILL PASS* and it won't kill you if you don't smoke.

Have a bottle of water handy ... suck on it, twiddle the cap and DEEP
BREATH -- here's how ... do this ... it works ... I kid you not ...

SLOOOWLY breath in thru your nose using your stomach (expand it) until
your lungs are full.

HOLD for a second.

SLOOOWLY release this like a silent whistle by relaxing your stomach.
Exhale completely.

REPEAT AS NEEDED.

That's one of many ways to beat a crave, but one that worked wonders for me.

Next here's something you need to get into your head -- YOU CAN DO THIS!

Don't smoke.

IT WILL GET EASIER.

IT WILL GET BETTER.

IT IS WORTH IT -- YOU ARE WORTH IT.

Remember, a crave won't kill you -- smoking will.

Cheers!

I remember something someone (real vague huh!) posted here when I first
stumbled upon this pit of humanity. If you look at your watch and time it,
you will see that the urge doesn't last as long as you think it does. Also,
substitute a glass of ice cold water and sip when you have the urge. Get up
and do something to take your mind off the moment. The longer you can fight
these urges the easier it gets. The first three days are a bitch, there is
no getting past that, but it will get easier, not a walk in the park but
doable.

Bakerboy,

This really is a very supportive group. But like the rest of Usenet, we
get our share of spam. If you're sincere, we're all for you. Are you
thinking of using the nicotine gum? The patch?

Instead of smoking read and post, learn about your addiction. pick a
method which you think suits you best and set a day and then DO THE
SINGLE BEST THING YOU COULD EVER DO FOR YOURSELF.... EVER sorry for
shouting but it just....... IS.
you can do it we can help
