of the greatest (well, ok not the greatest, but immediate
gratifaction) things I can do when I've officially quit, is post my
singles ads as a NON-SMOKER!!!
One particular website I have an ad on, people can block smokers from
even contacting them. Maybe, I can meet the man of my dreams - DOUBLE

Naahhh, you're not!! It's a very good motivation indeed! And remember,
there are motivations we all have in common, but then everybody has
individual reasons that make them tick as well. And they're all
equally important.
I am convinced that being a non-smoker will seriously improve your
chances of finding mr. Right
Take care

The first time I tried to quit it was because all the best girls were
non smokers.
I made it 4 days.
On the fourth day a smoking girl came knocking on my door.
I smoked a cigarette BEFORE we had sex.
Almost 11 years later, we have 4 kids and I have 5 months. |

No, any motivation is good! Some of mine are: whiter teeth, lipstick
stays on longer, prettier skin, and I don't smell like stale smoke.
How shallow is that? But it helps keep me straight.

Jeez! Not stinking is a huge one for me -- I had no clue how
replusive I smelled.
My kids used to reel away from me for a goodnight hug exclaiming
'Eeew! You stink! I don't wanna hug!' if I had just put one out ...
they were right. When you smoke you have no idea the stench that
surrounds you. Live 'n' learn, eh? :-)
Cheers!

Not at all! It's a great postive motivator.
I was grocery shopping the other day. When I walked into the store
someone must have smoking just before getting thru the door. The
stench was unreal -- I was surprised how strong it was.
You'll soon learn why people search for the NON-SMOKERS :-)
I can't stand the smell of cigarettes anymore -- a good thing because
it keeps the chance of relapse near zero.
Life is good smoke-free!
Cheers!

| | | Re: How's this for motivation?! Kathy! I have seen a few of your posts tacked onto the threads of
others, but I am suspecting this is as close to an introduction as you
have given so far. I strongly suggest that you read the FAQs which
are posted here every Friday as they are full of information about how
to get and stay smober. Also go to our unofficial website, www.quitbuddies.org
and look around as it has tons of additional information as well as
some of the silliest cartoons and other funny stuff about not
smoking. How do you plan to make your quit? You gonna use any of the
NRTs? I have used the patch, cold turkey and this time Chantix. Each
hs it's pluses and minuses but do go for it. Being smober will not
only help you find a hotter man to date, you will have a libido to
make him go wild! <G>

| | | Re: How's this for motivation?! I think that's a wonderful motivation. You'll keep discovering new and
exciting things about being a non-smoker, that you never woulda thought of
before.... like
"Gee, I can sit through a movie!"
"I can keep the car window closed when it's raining!"
"I don't have to run off in the middle of a good conversation!"
"I don't have to abandon my friend/spouse/date/etc. alone in the restaurant
while I smoke between courses"
"I can wear this sweater again because it doesn't reek!"
They are a lot of little things that really really add up, and it's kind of
fun to find them as you go along. Of course, finding Mr. Right is not a
little thing!
See, quitting can be fun!

jWell, no, it's certainly NOT insignificant. Anything that helps spur
you on in your quit is a GOOD thing. Once you've quit you'll realize
why so many non-smokers don't want to be anywhere near a smoker.
You'll be quite shocked at how bad you've smelled for so many years. I
was and to be quite honest, I'm still horrified at the stench I
carried around for all those years..
I'll post my meter below, but I want to let you know that I also quit
after a 35 year habit and at the time I quit I was smoking 3 packs a
day. Every day.
You've found the one tool - AS3 - that's right at the top of my list
of important quit tools. Use this group as much as you need to.
Get yourself a quit meter - I use Silkquit - and put the money you're
saving away. You know you've always found a way to make sure you had
stink sticks and now make sure you have the same fierceness at saving
the money. Set a goal for spending that quit money. My first gift to
myself was a sparkly ring. My second gift to myself was another
sparkly ring. :-) Set a goal to strive for.
My meter: I quit living my life around stink sticks: Three years,
three months, one week, six days, 4 hours, 15 minutes and 27 seconds
ago. 71950 cigarettes not smoked, saving $8,994.14. Life saved: 35
weeks, 4 days, 19 hours, 50 minutes. My quit date and time is
September 29, 2004 @ 3:00PM. Yes, the figures are correct. They're
based on 3 packs/day (20 stink sticks/pack) at a cost when I quit of
$7.50US for 3 packs.

LOL I think that's a *great* advantage and a terrific positive
thought.

| | | Re: How's this for motivation?! Thank you all soooo much!
I'm going to make a list from all these suggestions and tape it all
around my EX smoking places.
I'm filling my Rx for Chantix tomorrow. My biggest fear right now is
that I'll have problems with either side effects or interactions with
other drugs I take... This has been an ongoing problem of mine.
One other thing - I haven't heard it mentioned here on my searches. A
couple people said they felt "flat". One of my dr's said there can be
a problem with depression. I'm on a lot of pain meds and anti-
depressants due to chronic pain.
I figure I won't know until I try it! I'm praying for good results.
You guys are awesome!

Me either, Marvin. The smell nauseates me. That was the first sign to
me that this quit would stick. In all my previous quits, I would sniff
longingly whenever I got a whiff of someone smoking. With this quit,
the first time I smelled it, I told myself it stank. I just continued
to do that until it really did stink.
