Default I was thinking about having a smoke

Yesterday, Wednesday night I went out to the busy part of the neighborhood
to get a bite to eat and sit and read a book. There was a lot of people out
there, lots of young people, quite a few people smoking, and I wanted a
cigarette pretty bad. But that idea didn't last long and then it was gone.
I DO miss the affected state of mind sometimes, the nicotine affected state
of mind, there's a side to it that makes my mind function like it can't when
I'm nicotine-free. I could use a patch for that matter. Or I'm sure
there's perscription drugs that do it much better. Oh, well I don't need it
that much any way - I mean I been nicotine-free a long time now and it has
definitely been better than being a smoker for sure. If I was sixteen
again - if I was sixteen again, hopefully I would learn a way to get that
EDGE without the chemicals - without nicotine for example.

But I'm not sixteen. I'm 54 and my lung capacity is just good enough to
jeep me from huffing and puffing. Lung capacity is down, I know it, but
it's not that bad. Breathing IS important. More important than smoking for
sure !

Breathing IS important.

Never say fuck.

Congrats on your first year done Bill S. Occasionally we do have that
romantic notion of what smoking did for us but then you have to remember the
reality, stinking, disgusting, expensive addiction.

Bill, congratulations on your 366 (aka one year and one day)! For me,
while I do sometimes miss what I thought smoking gave me, I don't miss
the cold fingers and toes caused by smoking, nor do I miss standing out
in the freezing rain and snow to get my fix, nor do I miss the
inevitable colds and bronchitis that i got every year. I could go on and
on but you get the picture. I also have found that I *can* get a little
bit of a mental edge by regular exercise. It isn't easy but it is worth it.

ConcordPhil
I have not smoked in 2M 1W 5D 22h 56m. That's 74 days! I have not used
any nicotine at all since 9/03/2007.
