| | | It's a start! I've changed my name from UglyHabit to (aka) Kathy. No need to call
me Ugly unnecessarily
I posted previously that I was kind of concerned about the side
affects of Chantix. I'm on day 2. I know it's too soon to tell and
I'm on the lowest dosage, but so far so good.
I've been reading and reading and trying to stay hyped about this.
If I can pull this off, I will surprise everyone that has ever known
me. But, more importantly, maybe I can convince my mother to stop
smoking. Her health is not the best and she's gotten very pigheaded
in her old age. She was in the hospital and then nursing home for 2
months when she broke her hip. Wore a patch the whole time. My
sisters and I all talked to her about quitting, but she wouldn't even
discuss it. Walked in the door her first day home and lit a cig...
She lives in Chicago where cigs can cost up to $7.00 A PACK!!! (She
can't drive and the bar across the street has a machine that costs
$7.00)
OK, I'm babbling. Just happy to be here and very thankful for all of
you.

| | | Re: It's a start! Kathy! I am sooooo glad you ditched the 'Ugly' in your handle! We
are all pretty smober folk here! <G> I do remember Day 2 on Chantix. I was just started to realize that the stuff can work as
smoking seemed to start to feel wierd. That will increase each day
and when you hit Day 4 with the 2 pills a day you will really start to
feel it. For myself, I was psyched enough that when I got to Day 8
and the full dose of the Chantix I really was ready to get smober and
have not looked back.
Now, saying all that, do realize that your body will be going through
a lot of changes as you get smober. I was in a bit of 'brain fog' for
the first month but since I have had that experience before, I was not
freaked out by it but rather knew it was part of the process. Same
with getting tired. You may well find that you want to sleep more.
Do it. You body is healing and sleep is a be part of that process.
In addition, sleep is a GREAT way to put a lot of time on your meter
easily. <G>
If you have not done it yet, I do strongly suggest you sign up for the
Chantix website's help program. I have used it besides this group.
While I get a LOT more from here since we are interactive and can
share experiences, the site had many good and thoughtful articles I
found useful.
Most importantly, each day say your reasons for quitting to yourself
as that helps to re-inforce the quit and make it your own!

You can do this! Chantix apparently works wonders.

You are in the most sensitive and important part of your quit Kathy!
For years, you will turn your memories back to these days and feel
pride fill your chest every time. And rightly so!
