Default Junqui Speech

I think I've given a speech every year. I'm still not good at it, so maybe I
just have to keep trying.
Back in June of 2002 there was an AS3 group formed called the Junquies (June
Quitters). This group was awesome! Each of us who quit in June voted on our
group's name then, we kept track of eachother. That's the way it was, we
posted and emailed, and stayed accountable to the group. Did it work? I'd
say so! We had something like a 60% success rate with 14 people graduating
to Old Fogie status!
It was such a learning process for me. I'd only participated in one other
newsgroup before I found this one and the support was exactly what I needed.
I know I pissed off a lot of people, hell- I was going through withdrawel!!!
I learned a lot about myself and the forgiveness of other people. There were
so many times I was afraid to open the group again to read the replies.
But it stuck. As I helped other people I was helped. It was one of the
biggest investments in my quit to come here and spend entire days and nights
reading and posting.
Smoking is a deadly addiction. Do not believe you have time to think it
over. This is the place to work past your fear and get it done.
Get involved in all the fun here. Argue about the validity of meters,
quitting cold turkey, rant and rave. Create for yourself a mantra that you
will never forget! And by all means, get your picture up on the Quitbuddies
site. You need to invest in your quit.
I still find AS3 necessary to visit and occasionally write to. Like so many
of us, we come to show our appreciation. Ya, we're dinosaurs. Ya, we're out
of the loop. But we know that you need a help up sometime.

Passing the torch to my Junqui quit Sis Kathleen (who celebrates on the
16th!!!)
Love ya Sis!

I have been freed from tobacco for 6y 4d 0:08,
which means I haven't smoked 48,312 cigarettes.
That's not one puff, toke, drag, draw, hit, or large dose of
2nd hand smoke! (Note: In the event of a relapse, this meter
would be reset to zero, but that's just not going to happen!)
:-p~~~~~~~ Keven
Don't ever forget why you quit.

You can't miss my speech Elle, I only write one a year!
Hugs back!
Thanks Elle
