Just checking in

Can you believe how much I have saved since I quit August 30th of 2004.
Can't believe how time has flown since that day. It's been nice not to be
a slave to the cigs and I wish more people experienced this sense of
freedom from them. I know its hard but it can be done. My husband and I
both quit so the amount we have saved would pretty much be doubled even
though he smoked the nasty generics he smoked more than I did and for a
lot more years than I did. Fortunately, we are both doing fine and have a
lot more money to eat out and do other things we enjoy more.

Thank you everyone for the kudo's. Looking back now I can't believe I was
so stupid to smoke for so long. I feel so lucky to have woke up before
major damage was done. I feel my lungs have totally healed and its so
nice there is no more wheezing and coughing phlegm like in the old days.
What a fool I was for thinking it wasn't smoking related. I laugh when I
hear people that smoke use the old allergy excuse. Ya right! It's
allergies alright, its allergies to smoking. Wake up people!

Of course I don't say that to them but I am thinking it. If only they
knew. :-(

Yep. That was my mom. She developed those allergies rather late in
life. Ahem. Now, I, on the other hand, never tried to pass off my
smoker's cough as allergies. If someone asked if I had a cold or
allergies I would always tell him/her that it was a smoker's cough. I
haven't *any* allergies (not even to mosquitoes) and would almost
consider it a personal failure to admit to having any. )
The cough is what pushed me into quitting (hopefully for the last
time). Three nights sleeping in the guest room was enough. Especially
now that I know how poorly I've treated my guests with that mattress.
Cough was gone within three days. I was amazed.
