Mike, at this point, "getting this far" is the "something nice".
I'm thrilled to have milestones to post.
I'm still kinda stunned that I made those first 4 hours.

Congratulations David on the milestone and your approach to rewards.
Allen Carr tells us we should not reward ourselves with the money we
save by quitting. By rewarding ourselves we are reinforcing the notion
that we have sacrificed something important to us.

Beautiful! Wonderful! Miraculous indeed! Don't your lungs feel
great?!? I just took a great big breath of fresh spring air this
morning...ahhhh...it was excellent! Congrats on your great looking
meter and great success!!! Now...you have extra money to spend on
gasoline!!! (I'm grumbling about the high price of gas this
morning...as I just filled up my Jeep...OUCH! guess I'll be saving my
no smoking money to gas up my vehicle these days!!!)

Again...Congrats on your wonderful milestone!!!!

I found the above information about Allen Carr's beliefs that we
shouldn't reward ourselves...that it reinforces the notion that we
have sacrificed something important...Hmmmm...I'd never thought of it
quite like that. Maybe there is some truth in it...but, I find my
meter has helped. It has helped immensely knowing that I have
accomplished something...it has helped to save my no smoking money and
bought some treats for myself with my quit money. I don't know. I
guess it is different for everyone. But...I find saving and having
goals is helpful in my quit.

I absolutely do not agree with that (though I haven't written a book
on not smoking). The way I see it, I am rewarding myself for doing
something good. Now, if I could just find something less fattening
than Nutty Buddy's as a reward, life would be better.

Burp,
Rob
Breathing free for one month, three days, 14 hours, 13 minutes and 12
seconds. That's 1037 cigarettes I've not smoked and approximately 25
Nutty Buddy's I've eaten.

You're in the majority if you don't agree.

You have stopped smoking, which is a reward in itself.

Naw, I hate basketball. I have a vague awareness that they are doing well
though (the game was on the TV in the restaurant I was just at), and a
certain bit (well, really a helluva LOT) of general resentment that my home
town sports teams have only done well since I moved away.
