| | | Mrs Android Is Not Well ... It's been over a week since we went to the Emerg.
Today she got a hold of her rheumatologist who told her to increase her prednisone to 60 mg per day.
She's experiencing a great deal of discomfort. The inflammation around
her heart and lung is bad. We went to the family doctor yesterday for
help in the pain management but so far it hasn't kicked in. She's
unable to do anything unassisted.
I had to call the owner this morning and get him to go in to cover for
me tonight. I like the guy. But I don't think he wants to cover for
me. I hate asking him to.
I've been doing the usual dance of frustration with my kids trying to
get them to 'just do what I ask' ... asking for help becomes this
idiotic discussion of what the other sibling does or does not do ... I
remind them with some passion that it is ONLY ME that's asking for help.
Last night I was sweating my guts out in a 100F bakery working like a
dog arguing with my 14 yr old over the phone to spend 20 mins in our air
conditioned kitchen to wash the fucking dishes ... to my great dismay I
came home to a sink full of unwashed dishes.
My stress levels are not in a good place.
Mrs A's employer (Feds) suggested she consider medical retirement. It'd
be 70% of her current earnings.
Yes, it will pass.
But I just really hate going thru all of this right this very moment.

Prayers, healing vibes and calming thoughts all greatly appreciated.

I do hope that Mrs. A's pain abates quickly and the kids to realize
that the only way through this situation is to work as a team. You
really do have your hands full right now, but do know that I'm pulling
for you! I do think the medical retirement might be a good option for

Marvin, I wish I could just wrap you up in a cloud and send you on a
trip through the Universe. And when you come back, all will be well
in Androidville. Your kids will see what needs to be done and do it
before you even have to ask. Mrs. A will be painfree and well, the
girl you married. And you, Marvelous Marvie, will just be baking up
loaves of the most delicious and sweet smelling bread that was ever
invented. Happy Bread. Happy Marvie. That's what I hope for. For
you to be happy and carefreel.

Time to call on the help of friends, family and neighbors?
I wish I was one of your neighbors.
Make sure the girls know that what you're asking for, is their help in
taking care of their mother.
Maybe even get Mom to talk to them about stepping up for the good of
the team.
Hang on tight, man.
I'm prayin for your family and the wife's doctors. |

understand when they needed to help out instead of always fighting about it.
Best wishes to the Android household.
I don't think you have been brought all this way just to be dropped on
your head. Things will get better.

Marvin, does Mrs A have and LTD insurance policy? if it pays 65% of her
income, it's NOT TAXABLE INCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! and THAT makes a HUGE
difference to how much her 'take home' will be
insurance would be preferable to pension |

| | | Re: Mrs Android Is Not Well ... Hi TG,
Her LTD was ended 2 weeks ago. Her claim is still open but it had run
the full 2 years, which is all she was allowed for. If she takes
medical retirement the LTD Co. tops up her pension to equal 70% of her
current salary.
She was working 5 or 6 hours per day from home until the lupus went
into a full-blown flare up (it's around her heart and lung). Right
now she can't get out of the chair without assistance. She woke up in
tears this morning ... it truly sucks.
You've reminded too that the prednisone increases her Blood-Glucose
(BG) so as her prednisone is continually increased she's continually
adjusting her insulin to cope with the fluctuating BG. It's f**king
nuts.
*sigh*

oh ya, prednisone sure messes up the bg levels
LTD made me apply for CPP, and they topped THAT up for me........ the
money i get from LTD is tax free as it's less than 65% of my salary (and
it's a low enough amount that even if i did have to pay taxes on it, i
still don't make enough to pay taxes)
good luck for Mrs A

Tch, tch. This does not sound good. I can well sympathize with your
missus, having had a couple of weeks of some pain in the hip and left
ribs areas, and moaned and groaned and yelped unceasingly, nothing
compared to what she is putting up with though.
I can't advise regarding the childrens' attitude, never having had any
and so totally ignorant on that subject.
Don't hesitate to blow off steam in here when it all seems just too
much: it'll bring the blood pressure down if nothing else.

Marvie - I hope things are better by now. I'm truly sorry you are
having to go through this ordeal once again. My prayers and good
wishes go forth for your wife and for yourself. As for the children's
actions, you don't want to know my thoughts :-)!
Luv ya,

| | | Re: Mrs Android Is Not Well ... Oh, Marvie. Don't we all just wish we could come over and... cook... or
entertain the kids, or work (an hour) for you. I know I do. I'm going to
do what I do best, send some prayers your way.
Maybe you can give the kids a chore list? Ours are simple. Put up the
dishes, clear the table, set the table, dust the living areas, vacuum the
kitchen every other day. I still have to nag, but now that DD12 is getting
around she understands that chores are tied to privileges - a fact that DD19
always understood. Like, I still had to nag, but if she wanted something
she knew she darn well better have those chores done. Nothing backbreaking,
just regular things.
I know you will keep us updated.
With hope and heart,
Kathleen

Marv, I think I would have gone fullblown out bug-nuts, if I was in
your shoes, you are doing great. The kids will come around, they are
just rebelling due to being in the situation that they don't want to
be in. As my grandfather used to say "If they aren't going to be good
servants, might as well raise them for the meat." You got a whole
bunch of prayers/goodthoughts/juju coming from the flatlands your way
and to the Missus Android.
I'm still here,

Ah teenagers! Aren't they wonderfull? They do come around
eventually. My eldest barely talked to me between the ages of 12 and
16, now she's 20 and in college getting straight A's and looking to go
into my profesion ( not spelling). I couldn't be more proud of her,
and I couldn't love my kids any more despite the fact that I would
like to strangle them from time to time.
I feel for you and remind you it will get better. |

I'm so sorry to hear that. You know how I feel about steroids so I

that gets your stress levels out of whack. So let me remind you that
buying a gun and waving it around at strategic moments gets more
