Default My Rolex

My Rolex (German Shepherd) died at 4:03 pm Central time today. Rolex was 14
years old. He was my buddy, my companion, my walking buddy, my room mate
and my best friend. The Vet came to the my house to inject him. I asked
her to do that, because I wanted him to die at home and in my arms.

God, what a shitty year I am having. What on earth have I done to deserve
all the happenings in my life? CHRIST!!!

My cyber hugs are very limited but this one goes to you:

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I have no idea why all these
things are happening to you, but you have gotten through it without
smoking. If you can do this, and you have, you can do anything!!
My sincere thoughts are with you, AZ.

Oh, AZ, Maximus, I am so sorry.

I cannot imagine how I could manage if one of my pets died now, after these
past, fragile few years I've had.

But that's how it is sometimes for us quitters. A lot of us (me me me) quit
because we got to the point where we just couldn't get away with it anymore.
Our own aging. And that point in our lives tends to coincide with so many
of the other major changes -- care-taking and loss of parents, career
transitions, mid-life crises, etc., etc.

I think that's one of the reasons you can know that you have friends here,
is because many of us are enduring similarly difficult periods in our lives.
Quitting our addiction tends to coincide with such losses, simply by virtue
of the coincidence of age.

And by the way, "deserving" has nothing to do with it. Life is not fair.
"You heard it here first." :-)

But you are not alone -- "here." We're all in this together.

I'm so glad your vet was willing and able to come to your home for this.

Goodbye Rolex. Thank you for being such a good friend to our friend
AZ/Maximus.

ep oooooooof

Sorry AZ, for this. I am glad that you were able to get this done at your house instead
of having to take Rolex in the car and then drive home without him. I had to do that and
it really tore me up.

My Friend, we don't have to do anything sometimes for lousy things to
happen. They just do.

Look at it in terms of Love, My Friend. A great Love. I feel your
sadness. But be thankful for the Love you've shared with Rolex. Love
is Eternal.

Love Is Eternal.

Hi AZ Maximus

Edna and Marvin have pretty much said what I wanted to... that life
does these things and it's not lways about deserving what happens.
Things just happen. What did Rolex do to deserve to die? What did your
father do? What did you do?

No-one did anything wrong. Death came, bereavement came, because these
are the only guaranteed things in life.

You could ask yourself: what did I do right to deserve having a good
dad (even though there were some problems there)? What did I do to
deserve such a wonderful long time with Rolex?

I know these losses hurt so deeply that sometimes they seem to take
away all meaning in life. The loss makes us angry sometimes. That's
also just the way it is. But asking what you've done wrong is likely
to push you out over the edge of "normal" bereavement and straight
into soul-destroying insane depression. Take it easy on yourself,
friend.

Thank you all for all you very kind and warm words. It is so weird to wake
up and Rolex is not around. I am so out of sorts. I showered before I
shaved. I had my suit on before I showered. I keep expecting Rolex to bark
at my electric razor (he hated it) or keep scratching on the shower door
trying to get in, because he thinks it's Disney World with a lot of cats in
there...Who knows.
But I know one thing..you guys are true friends, and I thank you all for all
the support you have given me in my most difficult times.

Sorry to hear about Rolex, AZ. Taking my beautiful Calypso (Aussie
Shepherd mix) to the vet that last time was just about the hardest thing
I've ever done in my entire life. She was 13, older than my own son,
like one of my own children AND my best friend, all in one. But it was
the right thing to do. I know she's waiting for me somewhere. I can't
wait to see her again. Rolex is waiting for you somewhere, too.

Really sorry to hear about Rolex. You right, this has not been a good year
for you Maximus, your strength
has been tried hard. So far you have found ways to overcome your sorrows and
I hope that it will be the same with
this loss.
You have done nothing to deserve all these happenings, on the contrary, but
this is life.

If your Mum was here she would say 'Coraggio!' and this is what I am saying
to you, sending also hugs and lots of love.

Maria
