Default My very first...

....time reading a new book as a non-smoker. Wow, I think I've
gotten even faster than I already was? The kids are in awe: I read
the new Harry Potter book in less than half a day *and* managed to
cook dinner and do the dishes and all too. :-)

This means my mother can read it tomorrow and son #2 can start the
day after.

Quick flash:
Breathing freely for 1M 1W 11h 55m (37 days). € 95,61 added to the
Save Vashti Fund, as I didn't turn 1.312 cigarettes into ash. 4D
13h 20m of my life saved for later. Quit: 14-6-2007 13:30 CEST.

I preordered the book awhile back for my son and picked it up for him today.
Since I am not into Harry Potter and have no vested interest in the
outcome,I went ahead and cheated by looking at the ending. I aint gonna say
how it ends. My husband and son would have killed me if I did.I can say that
it is a nice big book, well worth the $$$. of course getting it at 40% off
the list price by preordering it was nice too hehe!

One month, two weeks, four days, 22 hours, 51 minutes and 59 seconds. 2447
cigarettes not smoked, saving $227.63. Life saved: 1 week, 1 day, 11 hours,
55 minutes.

Becky - Well, pre-ordering & getting at a discount is pretty good, but
pre-ordering at the library and getting on the "waiting list" when it
comes out, is even better, if you don't want to "keep" the book. Works
for me. Doesn't cost a cent.

Pam

Yeah, Pam. But, by then you will have already heard that Harry gets
decapitated by Ron who was secretly Voldemort's robot (sorry to
spoil it..someone had to do it).

Oh thank goodness for that! I just can't imagine taking turns with
a book... that'd be torture for all involved (and not all inflicted
by me!). We tend to read in order of speed: either my mother or I
first since the rest, like my 10 YO, may take a few weeks to finish
a single book.

As the child said yesterday: how can you really enjoy a book when
you finish it so quickly? I wish I could read slower!

Hehe - I preordered the book and had it delivered to my home...
never even had to leave the house but the kid delivering did ask if
it was "it" in a slightly jealous tone.

<g> For ADHDers like me buying books is cheaper in the long run
than library fines, plus we get to read 'em multiple times over the
decades... hand 'em down to our grandkids (ok- maybe in a few
decades, LOL), rediscover them behind other books etc. :-)

I agree with your kid, I can't remember reading a book in under 3
days. I maight be lazy or I might be a slow reader, what I do know is
that I enjoy it this way.

Yup, there's some Diana Wynn Jones' (and other author's too) books
that I first read when I was 7 or 8 that I *still* love reading
like Eight Days of Luke.

I know... problem is that I can't slow down: I practically finish
reading cornflakes packets before I realise I've started. And to
think I once bought a speed reading book (unread) to make up a ten
books for x amount of money thing.

Oh, alright... I'll be positively evil while remaining female: many
