| | | NYC meet I just looked at my calendar and saw that I have marked tomorrow as the date
of your meet.
And I won't be there.
Except in spirit.
Give the Plaza Hotel, Radio City Music Hall, the Bandshell in Central Park,
Grant's Tomb, Pete's Tavern, The White Horse, Grand Central Station, the
Court Street Bakery, or the monument of your choice a big kiss for me. And
take pictures. And report back.
<sob>
ep oooooooof
(And if you do happen to go to the Court Street Bakery, would you mind
sending me some canoli? Theirs is the best, IMNSHO.)
(Shit, I'd be glad to have a knish, where I am right now. With mustard, of
course.)
(And an egg cream, if it's not too much trouble)

Dear ep, I am wish-mailing you a knish from the Tal Bagel shop which
is right next door to me. I assume the Court Street Bakery is in
Brooklyn. Haven't been to Cobble Hill in eons. Haven't had an egg
cream in years, but I used to make them at home with seltzer, milk and
a shot of chocolate syrup. However, I sometimes stop at the Papaya
King on Third Avenue and get 2 hot dogs and a medium papaya drink.
The whole city is a momument for me; I get the bends whenever I leave
it.
Wish you could be with us tonight.

Jef, that is the best description of an egg cream I have ever read. I
am pretty sure that we won't be able to get any at the Chinese
restaurant tonight. Green tea, yes. Tsing Tao beer, yes. Egg
cream, no.
Thanks.

| | | Re: NYC meet EP! I, too, have not been over to Cobble Hill in a coon's age, so to
speak and while I've been in NYC over 23 years, it was past the time
of the famed Egg Creme days so I've never had one. But I totally
agree with Joyce. Take me out of Manhattan and I go nutz. Too Quiet
and Too Much Space! <G> If you ears start buring tonight know that
we're talking of you [and many others] as we gather and giggle and see
each other!

| | | Re: NYC meet I was just thinking last night, well, I'll make my own damn egg cream. I
wondered whether your "Nicest Man In New York" included any sort of recipe,
and couldn't remember. Then I thought, well, hell, this is the 21st
Century -- I can look it up on the Internet!
So I'm off to do some research, then off to the store, and I'll introduce my
SO to the pleasures of an egg cream, and I'll close my eyes and pretend I'm
at Ratner's . . . . .

Dear ep, I am so sorry to report that Ratner's is no more. See below: http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/...es__98492.aspx
Rappoport's is gone. And Moskowitz & Lupowitz is long gone; I went
there in the early '60;s with a boy friend of the time. I remember
gypsy violins and fabulous matzo ball soupl
