In the traditional newsgroup spirit of "I don't know a thing about that but
I'm going to pipe up about it, anyway" --
The pointed part is at the back of the bee. Stay away from it.
Also, if you chew them, they taste strangely of honey.

I have a hive of them that lives under my front porch, you're quite welcome
to take those.

And in the spring we get inundated with carpenter bees so big you can use a
tennis racket to swat them.

Funny, I'm considering beekeeping too. I want to do the top bar bee
hive. I got a cd explaining it & there's a great website or two. If
you're interested, I'll give you the info on the cd. Top bars are less
harmful to the bees & easier for the beekeeper, I'm told.

It's the wee little honey bees I am wanting. My granddad used to keep bees
and I never gave it much thought until a year ago when I went looking for
bee wax. then I remembered what great tasting honey he had

You can join Country Life on Facebook. They have bees on that one.
The bees come out of the hive to collect the pollen from the clover
that you've planted and they make honey that you sell. Then you
harvest the clover and give it to the cows who make milk that you put
into the cheese making machine. Then you sell the cheese. That's all
I know about bees.

I read in a PGWodehouse that bees hate tobacco smoke, You go near them
smelling of a pipe and they attack you and sting you to blazes. But you need
not worry about that as you are very much ahead of the game being OOF.

they don't like any smell on a person.
I had/have a real aversion to bugs but it never included bees since I am a
gardener and they never bother you if you don't bother them, although I
don't think I can handle them on my face so I will be wearing a bee hat. my
granddad would just walk out and open up a box with nothing on. he was a
very calm man. that I need to learn
I will be an OOF+OF in a couple of days
