OT: Thirsty?

    Default OT: Thirsty?

    COKE vs. WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies
    to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it
    is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for
almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington
    study.

#5. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day
could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of
    sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the
computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon
cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%.,
and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking
the amount of water you should drink every day?

    COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke
in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be
    gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl
and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour, then flush clean. The
citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper
with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-
    Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of
Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to
the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking
pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before
ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with
the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the
load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular
cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also
clean road haze from your windshield.

    FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will
dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches
calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase
    of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial
trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly
    corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of
the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or Coke?

I can dimly remember being advised by my kids' pediatrician to give
them spoonfuls of Coke syrup as a remedy for some childhood malady,
but I can't remember what. Upset stomach maybe? If anyone here knows
    for sure, please respond. It's not that I need to give it to my sons;
they are in their forties and responsible for their own upset
stomachs. Chris still drinks canned Coke, but Evan never took up
drinking any kind of soda. Me? I now drink lime seltzer every day in
place of a cocktail before dinner.

    How we continue to evolve.

For another view on coke vs. water, go see:

    http://www.bluegold-worldwaterwars.com/

The filmmaker is with downloading the documentary from Bit Torrent,
so feel free to download it somewhere if you're interested.

http://www.flowthefilm.com/ 'Flow: For Love Of Water' is worth watching
as well, I just liked Blue Gold better. Maybe just because I watched it
    first.

Both award winning documentaries turned my stomach a bit and temporarily
made me a little sicker of this world, but I'll bet with an other eye you
    could
see it as leftist anti capitalist or even socialist propaganda. So you're
    warned.
<grin> Just letting ya know it's outthere.

Yeah, and ducks swim in it with their dirty feet. Ugh.
That's prolly why they throw so much acid in cola,
coz they make it with fish **** duck feet water.

If you want to quit smoking, you don't want Coke simply because it's
full of caffeine. And then there's sugar and the rest of the ****. Too
bad they took out the Coca leaf extract early on.

Glad you uhhh, was going to say liked it. But this is one of
those 'here, watch this. You're so not going to like this' kinda
deals eh? <grin> So, glad you watched the trailers Mike. ;-)
For me it was important to see this, all the more coz they use
water to make single malts and beer. ;-)

    Just FYI,

I use coke in the cast iron cooking-ware curing process.
Clean off the dirt and rust with wire brush, then fine steel wool.
Soak the skillet or Dutch oven, e. g., in coke for a day or a little more.
    Rinse and dry.
Coat it lightly with lard. Put in fairly hot oven up-side-down
for over an hour. Let it cool on its own. Just wipe it clean after
each use. No detergent or major srubbing. Always keep dry and
it helps to wipe it with a bit of cooking oil while not in use.
And don't use to cook tomatoe based stuff. I use something else
to cook eggs (omelets, etc) in.
This works and where ever I learned this from I was told that Pepsi,
Dr Pepper, etc, does not work. Thus so for cleaning battery terminals.

    short history
Dr john Pemberton was eager to duplicate a poplar wine elixir made it coca
so he made a thick syrup drink with sugar water, kola nut extract and coca .
he brought it to a druggist ( Venable) who added the carbonated water. the
rights to this was bought several times before Candler acquired them in
1888. since 193 the recipe has only been changed once in 1985 and it is
STILL made with coca and kola!
I can see it being used back then as a booster if kids were sick and needed
a perk-me-up. My own kids didn't like white pop ( 7 up) when the got
dehydrated from the flu so the doctor said to use cola if they could keep
it down. I imagine back when it was really sugary it could of been used for
a cough but I am talking maybe a 100 years ago.

the ingredients the carbonate water, phosphoric acid, high fructose corn
syrup, caramel color, glycerin, lemon oil, orange oil, lime oil, cassia
    oil,nutmeg oil,vanilla extract,coca and kola.
and BTW if you put meat in cola overnight it will not completely dissolve
but it will be very tender and marinated.
    other silly facts
-"good to the last drop" Maxwell coffee uses was first used by Cola.
-they used to use shake Coke and use it as a douche after sex to stop
    pregnancy ( doesn't work)
-if all the coke bottles ever produced were laid end to end it would reach
the moon and back 1045 times.
-when coke stock went public in 1919 at 40 dollars a share. in 1994 one of
those shares was worth $118 192.76 including dividends
