| | | ***Ping*** Flatiron Mike (or Tiho if the patience is still there). OK. On the bottom of the page for
your (Mike's) Picasa page there is a link to click on that says
"download Picasa". I guess that's what I need to do in order to post
pictures? Anyway, I boldly clicked on it and then brazenness fled
when I was faced with a warning box that asked if I want to "run",
"save" or "cancel". Would someone mind telling me what I want to do?
Please? Sometimes this whole computer business does indeed make me
want to "run".

Sue, "save" the link. You are actually downloading the Picasa program,
and when the download is finished, you will run it in order to install
Picasa. Over!

Thanks, Tiho. I'm in the process of doing that right now. I'll let
you know when the next panic attach hits. )

Oh, crap!!! I'm stuck. I'm at this place of Initial Picture Scan
that is asking me if I want to Picasa completely scan my computer for
pictures or only scan My document, My pictures and the Desktop. The
fact is that I don't want it to do either. My pictures that I've
taken from my camera are on Easy Share. I don't want *all* of my
pictures to end up on this Picasa thing. I want to select. If it
took them all it would take about 3 weeks, 2 days, 8 hours, 10 minutes
and 57 seconds on dial up and most of them are crap anyway. @#%$# -
some days it's a pain in the ass to be so dumb.
Sue - hoping that one of you geniuses will show up here soon. |

Sue. The Picasa program is not designed to send all your photos to the
web once it scans your PC. The standalone Picasa that you just
installed and run is a program designed to organize your photo
collection locally, on your computer. After it is finished scanning
for photos, you will have an easy way to browse your photos in one
central place, the Picasa program.
As for sending to the Picasa web site: Once it has finished scanning
for photos on your computer and you have all the photos in fornt of
you at your fingertips, then you can *optionally* select certain
photos, and send those to be published on the web site.
I'm going to bed but will check back once more in maybe an hour or so.
Over!

Got it!!! Thanks for all your help! You can go to bed now. There
will be another problem but that can wait.
Over and out - for now.

Tech support is easier but splitting wood is more fun!

Time to get ready for work so I haven't much time but here's the new
problem. When I posted a couple of pictures on that other picture
sharing site (I don't remember the name but it was, as far as I could
tell, one picture at a time and temporary) I had to have help from
Echo who pared the pictures down. When I first put them there they
were waaaay too big so she reduced them for me. This was before I had
my digital camera. Now, with the Easyshare software I could edit them
to "e-mail size" or "web size". I had done this to some of the
pictures that I want to put on Picasa but hadn't gotten rid of the
original "big" pictures and they all transferred to the Picasa
software thing and I don't know which is which even though the "small"
ones were named and the names didn't transfer as far as I can see. Of
course, the reduced pictures were for e-mail size so I'd need to redo
them anyway and I can't see where I can do that on Picasa. Am I
making any sense? They look the same in the thumbnails (or whatever
those things are). I do like the lay out of Picasa.
Thanks so much for your patience. These pictures are nothing artistic
or anything.

| | | Re: ***Ping*** Flatiron Mike (or Tiho Sue, if all your photos are in one folder, you can easily identify
which ones are the 'big ones' by looking at the file size if you
change your view from 'thumbnail' to details. It will then give you
the date the file was created/edited as well as the size. The smaller
the file the smaller the picture... Additionally, I don't think
Picasa has that much of an issue on a file's size so I don't think you
need to reduce the sizes of the photos to post them there.
Hope that helps. Tiho is to be commended on his well writen
instructions with the rest of this thread. I didn't see it until last
night and he'd already handled it all.

Thanks for your help, Mike. This will be a project for next weekend
due to limited computer time during the week and dial up and all. )
I'll put out another SOS if things don't work out.
