Now *that's* the Becky we all miss :-) Just remember that most of
this is in your mind. If you're on the patch and Zyban, you should be
able to get through this easier than it seems to be going. Stay
strong!

Im not only on Zyban and the patch, but I use lozenges too! just a fluke I
guess, since yesterday morning went much easier. Perhaps I am getting less
nicotine from this than from smokign and thus I am in slight withdrawal. At
any rate I feel better. I distracted myself from it by playing on the
internet.
Now about that fucking cofee maker.....

Somehow I can see the coffee maker defy the laws of physics and heal
itself as a result of Becky's threats.

often it will do this shit and not make the coffee even though I can hear
the water perking. I guess it evaporates. So now im havig a nice cup of

This is known as the 'aura', computer technicians (another one of my
hats that I wear) gain such powers through many hours of customer
support. We can step up to a computer, and all bugs seem to vanish,
the problems go away. This is also known as the quantum theory of 'who
has the bigger stick'. When the aura is not working, another common
strategy to use is known as 'percussive maintenance', this tends to
straighten out the pathways, clear out stray magnetic fields, and
relieve stress for the operator.

I'm still here, at work, wondering why I'm not outside getting some UV
for my nerdly white skin,
Pike
I have been quit for 9 Months, 3 Days, 28 minutes and 58 seconds (277

I have saved $1,595.63 by not smoking 3,324 cigarettes.
I have saved 1 Week, 4 Days and 13 hours of my life.

Your doing really well Becky - just keep posting!

By the way our coffee maker started doing this - try cleaning it out
with 2 cups of white vinegar and 10 cups water depending on size of
your machine - it worked on ours - well for a few months at least
before we ditched it!!

My Drama Queen 12 year old is responding full fury to her 14 year old
All-Tude sister over a piece of tourtiere for lunch. They both have
the day off school. They and Mom are heading to the City for the
weekend to a hotel with an indoor water park where the in-laws will be
staying. I've decided to stay home this weekend. My boil's much
better but still 'weeping' so I wouldn't be able to use the water
park ... instead I'll enjoy some quiet over-due yardwork this
weekend. And likely some slowcooked pork ribs ...
uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh ... pork ribs ....

It's quiet again ... I didn't do anything but continued to respond in
a non-response kind of way to your post ... if I was still smoking the
stress of the situation would've likely caused my body to metabolize
the nicotine in my system causing a sudden intense craving for a
cigarette. Instead my coping mechanism this time was nothing ...
sometimes it works. Not always ... but it beats fucking smoking by a
million country miles.

You can do it Becky!!!!

BIG HUGE HUGS!!!

Becky!!! You always give me the giggles. So you stared down the
coffeemaker, eh? Now THAT's power! You certainly do merit your title
of the Queen of the BDU. <G> You're doing it. When you get a crave
do ANYTHING else but think about the crave. Thinking about it makes
it worse and worse. If you are busy doing something/ANYTHING else you
deny the crave the power it wants out of you. I think I remember that
Joyce used to have a rubber band around her wrist which she would snap
when a crave bit her. That whap from the rubber band did help to
distract the crave.

Allen Carr tells us we should not try to distract ourselves from
cravings, instead we should embrace thoughts of smoking. When we think
about smoking we should say something like "Isn't it great that I'm a
non-smoker". It makes sense really, we've been smoking for so long,
our minds are obsessed with smoking, instead of trying to forget it
(kind of like trying to forget your own name) we should embrace the
thoughts of smoking but change the messages we repeat to ourselves
when we do start thinking about it. In the beginning it feels a bit
silly, but after a while you really do believe it, because lets face
it, it's true!

Burner fan,
I have no doubt yu mean well. However right now I feel like i dont want to
"embrace" thoughts of smoking. I want to get my mind off them as much as
possible/ because for me, those thoughts become overwhelming at times. I
have busted more quits due to those thoughts and next thing ya know Im
talking myself right into smoking again!! Im cravign right now! So here I am
on AS3,the best newsgroup on usenet, garnering support for these early
days.As far as Allen Carr goes,it for me is a matter of "take what you need
and leave the rest". I like the idea of a positve attitude about quitting.
Not so fond of the idea of embracing the craves.

Here, Becky.

Watch my watch swinging back and forth...

You don't have to smoke any more, Becky.

It's just a foolish self-destructive addiction that you don't have to keep.

Like you suggested, if you can destract yourself for a while, the
cravings WILL pass.

It will pass.

It will pass.

Becky honey,

Burner Fan is a troll that I killfiled some time ago. Its entirely
up to you, but I'd recommend you don't try to reason with the
unreasonable. You know yourself better than anyone. And you know
what its going to take for you to quit.

Good luck on your current quit effort.

Hugs,

Wayne
