| | | A smokeless Summer Come to think of it, as I quit on May 30th, and the Fall is coming in
just a few days, this will have been my first smokeless Summer since
1987.
A whole Summer, a whole Season without smoking a single sickarette.
And amazingly, I could almost say it was a whole Summer without
*wanting* to smoke in the first place.
Discovering disgusting butts in the beach sand was disgusting, and
reminded me how great it is not to have to smoke on the beach and
carry a bottle or a can around to keep the butts in.
It was great to play basketball 2 days ago with my 9 year old step
son, and some football yesterday, without coughing my lungs out.
On Friday, he had his first birthday with a smober stepfather.
It was great not having to worry about buying and carrying smokes. It
was great not to have to ask whether it was OK to smoke in other
people's homes.
Everything mentioned, was a gift. A free gift that came from quitting.
I switched from electric heaters and AC heating to a wood stove. I
love the work involved, I love the look and feel of the fire and the
atmosphere it creates. I love splitting wood because it provides free
exercise and the smell of a freshly split piece of red oak is just
fantastic. I can't wait to smell the first piece of split wood with my
smoke free nose.
Thank you all for helping me quit. This truly is *the* best thing I
could have done for myself. Marvin is right. Life is Good.

Good one, man.
I am enjoying first this and first that.
I am looking forward to first this and first that.

Fall is even better. Apples, cinnamon, leaves to smell. |

| | | Re: A smokeless Summer Life is indeed good, Tiho. It really is.
I had my first smokeless summer, too -- struggled a bit at first but
haven't smoked since 6/23. And I really enjoyed it as well. I had my
first smoke-free birthday since ... well, since I can remember,
anyway.
Although it was hard at times, I can look back now. I am *SO GLAD* I
quit. So glad.

No smoking for 2 Months, 3 Weeks, 3 Days, 11 hours and 12 minutes (86
days). I have saved $243.17 by not smoking 1,296 cigarettes and I have
an additional 4 Days and 12 hours of my life to show for it. |

Spring and Summer since 2001 and I totally agree with everything
you've written. The best is not having to fret about dragging around
the crap involved with smoking I think with smell good and being able
to smell a very close second!

| | | Re: A smokeless Summer Yep I love the wood stove thing. I have to put together about 4 cords
of wood a year. For the past 40 years one of my tasks has been to see
my mother who is pushing 90 has fire wood. Its a task I take pride
in. Sometimes in the winter you realize that woodheat , heats 2-3
times. Cut the tree down, Buck the wood up and burn the slash, Then
splitting and stacking.

4 cords? That is pretty much, I only use one and a half (that is, if a
cord equals 3,6 cubic meters) for about 56 square meters (cca. 600
square feet). The heating season here usually starts in October up
until April.
