Default Special Week

Well I was unable to get here on Wednesday but can't let this pass without
mention.

On Wednesday 08/08/07 I celebrated my 65th birthday. Not so much special
in that except that you gotta wake up breathing each morning and the
birthdays pile up.

I do believe the 12+ years I am quit has helped me be a young feeling as
I am today regardless of what the calendar says.

Next week is also a special one. On Friday the 17th we will celebrate our
44th wedding anniversary. Gonna do it right. Leaving Friday monring for
Las Vegas and will not return until Monday night.

Actually easier to find tables in vegas now days where nobody smokes even
though it is allowed. The poker rooms, where I do spend some time are all
no smoking and you got a good smattering of non-smoking tables around the
casino. Get to a table of all non-smokers and if you like your arms in
one piece you better not try to light up there any more.

Course I do miss when you go into a restaurant being asked
smoking/non-smoking cause I forget I am no longer in California. Many
restaurants and other areas in sin city are becoming sinless with no
smoking allowed.

Congratulations on two important events! The birthday is huge, of course,
but for me, 44 years of marriage is even more special, because it is a
milestone that took a lot of work and commitment, just like your 12 year
quit! Thanks for being an inspiration, Ian! Steve and I will have 13
wonderful years under our belts this September 24th! Have a wonderful trip
with your lady, and I hope that the gambling goes your way!

hugs

Congratulations on two important events! The birthday is huge, of course,
but for me, 44 years of marriage is even more special, because it is a
milestone that took a lot of work and commitment, just like your 12 year
quit! Thanks for being an inspiration, Ian! Steve and I will have 13
wonderful years under our belts this September 24th! Have a wonderful trip
with your lady, and I hope that the gambling goes your way!

hugs

Happy Birthday, Ian! I always get a lift when I read one of your
posts as you really have been here since the beginnings of AS3 and
have seen it grow into the incarnation it is today! I am certain you
and your wife will have fun in Vegas and since you may be asked
'smoking or non-smoking' at one point or the other, I know you'll be
glad to say non!

Happy Birthday to yoooouuu...!
And Happy Anniversa..reeeey tooooo!

The dog's howling--I'd better stop.

I didn't know I was your caboose in other ways, besides our quits,
Ian. I'm not quite 65 yet, but it's creeping up on me like a train
cresting a very steep hill.

You reminded me that my quit was planned to begin 30 days in advance
of our 30th anniversary after 30 years of smoking. Now, we're
looking our 42nd anniversary in just another month. I can certainly
second your statements about how all this time free of smoking has
made a world of difference in so many ways--most notably our physical
and financial health and wealth.

Speaking of wealth, have a wonderful time in Vegas and come back with
a wheelbarrow full of more money than you went with.

BTW, the county we live in is smokefree now. Absolutely love it!
Dining out is such a joy when your nose isn't puckered up "tasting"
ciggy smoke while your mouth is wrapped around a filet! Or a burger,
even.

Hey Biker you know you are one of my favorites from the old days. Along of
course with Read and Post Rosie and the DD's.

Actually I am still working and expect to continue for a bit longer cause
I love what I do. After that of course I will continue teaching at
University since I love that even more. Got a couple old employers feel I
am too old and are 'forcing' me to take pensions starting this and next
month.

Now without too many vegas trips how am I gonna spend that extra money
each month. Well we will start with a 7 day mexico cruise in a Balcony
cabin in March.

Congrats on your birthday and upcoming anniversary as well.
