| | | still smokefree Hello Everyone...
I only come to the group every few years to so now and I want
everyone
to know that I am still smokefree as of Feb 1, 1999 - I am close to 9
years smokefree!! I still have trouble believing it sometimes. I
have been through the deaths of my mom and dad, through a teenager
who
continues put me through hell sometimes, a few breakups and lots of
job stress, but I have continued to be smokefree. It can be done.
Old friends still are amazed that I quit smoking. I was a chain
smoker who went through 2 1/2 packs a day. (FlatironMike, I emailed
you, to put my name back on the quitlist, it somehow got deleted.)
To
everyone out there struggling - you CAN remain smokefree...it is a
choice. Something else to ponder.. do not give the cigarette
manufacturers and government one more cent of your hard earned money.
As you know, the government really does not want you to quit
anyway..too much tax revenue would disappear. VOTE SMOKEFREE BARS
AND
RESTAURANTS, too!!
Barb
I have chosen to remain smokefree for 8 years, 10 months, 7 days |

I agree with your suspicions about the government. In the UK we have gone
smokefree in bars and restaurants. It's wonderful - but how the streets
stink!

Welcome back Barb! Thank you for coming by and taking the time to post
words of encouragement! You can't imagine how much this helps us who
are still learning how to be quit and stay quit!
I wish you many more smoke free years to enjoy with your kid(s) and
hubby! It would be nice to hear from you again soon, and please don't
miss posting your 9th anniversary!
Cheers!

| | | Re: still smokefree Congratulations on nearly nine years!! It's so nice of you to come
back to show us your meter and let us know that it *can* be done.
Your comment about government is so true. Someone in the California
legislature is trying to push through a new $2 a pack on cigs to help
fund children's health care. What will they do when people start
quitting in droves because of it? Silly people.

| | | Re: still smokefree Wow, Barb! Thanks for stopping in to show us all how it's done. What an
amazing achievment!
:-D

I have achieved ten months, three weeks, one day, 11 hours, 8 minutes and 29
seconds, of smoke-free living (and, with it, rather aggressive driving).
This amounts to 9793 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2,326.06, and adding 4
weeks, 6 days, 5 minutes to my fabulous life.

smobriety under their belt as their experiences give us newer folk
more courage to keep on keeping on when the going gets rough! BTW, I
did add you to the quitlist so you will be noted when you hit 9Y!!!
