Follow your plan!
Your cravings are as natural as pain after an injury.
It just doesn't go away without considerable distraction and will continue
to nag you for quite some time.
Keep busy.

Don't ever forget why you quit.

| | | Re: Stir Crazy Perhaps the plan needs modifying a bit. In otherwords, perhaps I quit the
lozenges too soon. I can distract myself right now with tv but not sure what
it will be like at work.
I need to change my thinking. Instead of fear and dread,I need to
cultivate an attitude of beig able to do it,go thru tommorrow without the
lozneges and without smoking.

Get yourself some candy that has the shape of the lozenges it you feel
you can't do without them working.
Drink lots of cranberry juice, or water or any other liquid you like.

I know this is super hard to do - but quit thinking about it. Smoking,
I mean. I know when you first quit it is all you think about, but if
you can get your thoughts on something else, NOT smoking, it won't be
so hard. Try to focus on something else you really hate or really
love, and STOP thinking about smoking or not smoking. It WILL get
better once you've been quit for a while. Promise.

Smoking,
You've got a great idea there Pam. I know I was astounded when I
learned that I could actually change my thoughts. I do have a
choice. I can dwell on that crave or I can start planning the next
meal, how I'm going to win the lottery, ways to make my wife happy
or anything constructive. And it works....the crave goes away
quickly. Amazing stuff.

Hey, Becky....I know you often post that you have a really hard time at
work, and mostly it's due to boredom...So let's see if we can figure out
how to alleviate that for you...
I don't know what your job is (are you a waitress? I keep thinking you
might work in a restaurant...), so I don't know if these suggestions
will really apply, but here goes... If it's slow, try finding something
else to do, like extra cleaning, sweep the floor or reorganize a
cabinet. Get another co-worker to teach you their job, too. Then you
can fill in for people when they're gone and it increases your value as
an employee. Take a book or some magazines, crossword puzzles,
crochet/knitting, or something like that to work on. Get a Rubic's Cube
or some kind of puzzle that keeps your hands busy. Do ANYTHING to keep
your hands and your mind occupied. Heck, get a piece of paper and just
start writing -- about anything. Chronicle your life history, make
grocery lists, whatever it takes. Just use the time DOING SOMETHING.
These are just some suggestions. They may not be helpful at all, but
until you learn to cope with the boredom at work, you are going to
continue to have problems there....
Cindy, Sending you many good and positive vibes....
