Two things to announce

    Default Two things to announce

Well, make that three. First, I went to bed early. Second, I got up WAY too
late this morning. I overslept like a mofo. And the third thing is:

Drum roll - One day, 1 hour, 26 minutes and 8 seconds since I snubbed out
the last stinky cigareet. I'm smelling better. I'm feelling better. It's a
wonderful thing, this not smoking. No good can come from smoking and so I
don't. How about this - 15 cigarettes not smoked and $2.38 not wasted on
cancer stick, and life saved = 1 hour, 15 minutes.

WOO HOO Donna! FDD is always the sweetest. You have proven to
yourself that you can go a whole day smober and you didn't die. Today
is another day to enjoy being smober and you'll learn yet more about
yourself today that you can use for the next day. That you slept
longer than you usually do is good. I strongly believe sleeping is
one of the tools our body uses to make the shift to smobriety, so when
you can get extra sleep or a nap, go for it. After all, you can't
    smoke while you're sleeping!!! <MBG>

Donna, I'm curious exactly when you quit 'cause we're pretty close to one
another. The last one I had was at 1am PST on 9/3. Hang in there, babe, you
got a lot going for you! We're in this together. -- Mike

That first 24 hours was a real big deal.
Anything you can do for 24 hours can last a lifetime.
Whatever you did that 24 can be repeated.
After I made 24, I really felt like I'd just been let outta jail.
Now I'm learning to live on the outside.

I started smoking when I was 21, right around new years eve 1990, so I
smoked for about 17 years. Quitting cold turkey was the way for me.
During that first week, I watched a lot of Joel's videos at
http://whyquit.com/joel/ It does take a lot of willpower, but you can
    do it.

For me, I found that the first 6 days were the hardest. The first 3
days was nicotine and physical withdrawal. During days 4 to 6, the
withdrawal wasn't as bad, but there was still some anxiety/cravings.
After day 14 or so, it was pretty much cake. The nicotine monkey on
my back was now more like a fly that I could easily swat off.

I still have a full pack of cigarettes that I bought the first morning
    after I quit (July 4!). I guess that's a little strange; apparently I
was trying to be "realistic" in that I should have some smokes handy
in case I (likely?) didn't stick with the quit. I'm glad to say that
the pack is still full, and will remain that way.

    Cheers!

Actually, 9 a.m. on 9/4 was the exact quit time.

And it's still the quit time

my husband has cigarettes in his glove compartment. They've been there for
god knows how long. That's not the way to go for me. As noted prior, I know
that I can drive to a store any time at all to buy a pack, but I Liked
tearing the snigs in half and putting them in the trash. I even
photographed the aftermath and will put the picture on my quit blog in a
    few minutes.

    Whatever works, right?

Drum roll - One day, 8 hours, 13 minutes and 58 seconds since I snubbed out
the last stinky cigareet. I'm smelling better. I'm feelling better. It's a
wonderful thing, this not smoking. No good can come from smoking and so I
don't. How about this - 20 cigarettes not smoked and $3.02 not wasted on
cancer stick, and life saved = 1 hour, 40 minutes.

Wow! Keeping a full pack for 17 years! And not giving in to the

For me, it would be like going to bed knowing that there is a poison

Oops! No, I smoked for 17 years. I've had a full pack sitting in the
