As of Friday the baby bird was still in the cage and the parents were
still coming up to the bars to feed it. Helene's dad has a case of
separation anxiety. He keeps saying that he will open the cage
"tomorrow". I'm pretty sure the bird won't go anywhere yet except to
maybe fall the ground. S/he can easily sit on the perch but hasn't
many tail feathers yet so probably can't fly. I'll keep you up on
what happens.
Now, I want to thank Echo and Tiho and Sarah for responding to my
original post. Here's why: I copied your replies to an e-mail and
sent it to Helene. I explained in the e-mail where you all live. She
was absolutely thrilled that her bird story was read by people in such
diverse places (she's not on Usenet so isn't up on the international
flavor of it). She copied the e-mail and is putting it in the baby
books of her two young boys. So, thanks!!!!
