skin cancer
  1. Default skin cancer

I have mostly lived all my life up north in Jammu. Since 2 years I have shifted to Jaipur after marriage. Here the climate, sun to be precise is rather harsh. What are the things to protect myself from skin cancer?

To tell you the truth, the damage caused to your skin already from the sun cannot be completely reversed. However there are some precautions that you can take so as to reduce any chances of skin cancer.
    - Try staying indoors between 10am & 4 pm. That’s when the sun’s rays are the strongest. f you enjoy outdoor activities such as golfing, gardening, running, walking, or boating, try to schedule them outside of these "peak sun hours."
    - Apply a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater at least one half hour before going outdoors.
    - Start using a lip-balm that contains sun screen
    - Wear protective clothing like long sleeves and UV blocking sunglasses
    - Make sure to use sunscreen on overcast days. The ultraviolet rays can be as damaging to your skin on cloudy, hazy days as they are on sunny days.

That should be enough to kick start a new lifestyle.. what say?? It is very much doable right? Still if you are not fully convinced, you might want to get a second opinion from a trusted source. I usually log on to this site called mediangels and I must say they are literally a bunch of godsent angels helping me with online consultation.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the India. More than 3.5 million skin cancers in over two million people are diagnosed annually. The cause of skin cancer and melanomas does not lie entirely with the sun. If it did our ancestors would not have survived and we wouldn't be here. The sun hasn't got any stronger and the ozone layer is still intact, but the foods we consume on a daily basis have changed vastly. It's the sun, combined with nutritional deficiency that causes skin cancer.

Hospital Management according to Janine Zargar has become quite a big sector with young and energetic people with excellent track record in academics flocking to it in large numbers. One need not be a hardcore student of medical sciences to pursue this course and make it big in the hospital management scenario but a degree in medical will surely be a shot in the arm for a person trying to get control of a hospital. Janine Zargar believes that managing a hospital is much different from any other organization as the needs and working style in managing a hospital differ clearly from that of a normal organization.

Protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation is important all year round, not just during the summer or at the beach. UV rays from the sun can reach you on cloudy and hazy days, as well as bright and sunny days.

The hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. daylight savings time (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. standard time) are the most hazardous for UV exposure outdoors in the continental United States. UV rays from sunlight are the greatest during the late spring and early summer in India.

CDC recommends easy options for protection from UV radiation—

Seek shade, especially during midday hours.
Wear clothing to protect exposed skin.
Wear a hat with a wide brim to shade the face, head, ears, and neck.
Wear sunglasses that wrap around and block as close to 100% of both UVA and UVB rays as possible.
Use sunscreen with sun protective factor (SPF) 15 or higher, and both UVA and UVB protection.
    Avoid indoor tanning.

Wear sun protective clothing that covers as much of your body as possible
Put on a broad-brimmed hat that shades your face, neck and ears
    Wear wrap-around sunglasses
Apply SPF30+ broad spectrum water resistant sunscreen liberally to clean, dry skin, at least 20 minutes before being exposed to the sun, and reapply at least every two hours when outdoors

Skin cancer of the scalp is not as common as on other areas of the body. But it poses its own set of challenges. "The problem is that the hair can obscure a skin cancer so that the diagnosis is delayed," says Dr. Ronald Moy, president of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Skin cancer is the uncontrollable growth of simple skin cells. If left unchecked, these cancer cells can spread in the skin into other tissues of body.
