I have type 2 diabetes. I wanted to know if my children are at risk?

  2. Default

Yes very much. As your doctor must have already told you that Type 2 diabetes is a genetic disease. The risk of your children acquiring it is highest if multiple members in your family apart from you already have diabetes. Also if your children are obese, inactive and have other risk factors for type 2 diabetes. If I had to put a figure to it, then I guess your child has a 10-15% chance of developing type 2 diabetes when you have type 2 diabetes. And if one identical twin has type 2 diabetes, there is a 75% likelihood of the other twin developing type 2 diabetes also. I’d suggest you immediately seek professional help. My cousin referred doctors from mediangels for any or all of my health related issues. You might want to take a look.

The risk of your children getting type 2 diabetes is 12% according to the research. People who have a parent or sibling with type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of about 10 to 15 percent. But there is no need to worry. Sometimes our lifestyle is also responsible for getting type 2 diabetes. It can be controlled by regular exercises. Avoid accumulation of fat on the body.

Have you consult doctor for this? Start taking food with full nutrients and exercise in morning. Take ignorable number of sweet in food. It can be more harmful to you as well.
