Diet: Take less animal fats, red meat, eggs, milk and milk products, sugar and salt. Eat more grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. Start your day with breakfast. A healthy breakfast that includes high-fiber cereal, fruit (apple or banana) and skimmed or low-fat milk, can help you lose weight and fed off diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Eat a small pot of good quality yoghurt daily. Include in your diet whole-meal bread, porridge, onions, garlic, beans, pulses and lentils. Taste your food before adding salt. Too much salt is bad your health because increases blood pressure, causes osteoporosis and worsens symptoms of asthma. Do not eat more than 6 gram of salt per day. Eat more vegetables, preferably steam vegetables (cooked in a steamer or microwave). Plants have anti-oxidants, Omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. Vegetarians have better heart health than meat eaters. Switch to low fat foods. Avoid saturated fats – found in red meat, cakes and pastries etc. Too much saturated fat can lead to artery clogging (atherosclerosis) that result in heart disease. And don’t forget about moderation. Balancing your choices is important. Don’t eat too much of one thing.
Exercise: At least 40 minutes brisk walk five times a week. The ideal pace is around four miles per hour. Exertion should be enough to raise the heart beat to 120 beats a minute. Start with a warm-up that stretches your muscles. Climb stairs instead of taking elevator. Regular activity cuts the risk of a range of health problems including diabetes, depression, anxiety, stress and heart disease. It also reduces the chances of premature death from any cause. It also keeps your mind sharp.
Drink lot of water: At least 10 glasses of water daily. Two glasses on empty stomach before breakfast and remaining 8 glasses during the whole day. Drinking water on empty stomach prevents many diseases and good for health. Preferably, drink one glass of water every hour. Drink lemon juice with warm water every morning. In helps in losing weight. Water is also crucial to weight loss. Keep coffee and tea to a minimum. Avoid fizzy drinks (e.g. soft drinks) and sweetened fruit juices. Drink less water during meal. After one to two hours, you can drink lot of water. Replace fizzy drinks with water. Keep a bottle or jug of water and a glass on your work disk or carry a plastic bottle of water around you. Drink water gradually throughout the day – small sips while waiting in traffic . Always drink boiled water.
Sunlight: Daily 10 minutes is sufficient.
Fresh Air: Daily 10 minutes with deep breaths.
Rest and Sleep: Divide the day and night into three parts; 8 hours work, 8 hours sleep/rest, and 8 hours recreation.
Avoid drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.
Brush your teeth after every meal preferably.
Clean your body and take bath daily
Always keep covered your eatables.
Always wash your hands with soap and water before meals and after toilet.
Avoid stress.
Summary: Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, do walk regularly, drink lot of water, avoid stress and live longer and healthy.
