OPULENCE AND HISTORY BLEND AT BRICKELL NEWCOMER LAFAYETTE STEAKHOUSE

Lafayette Steakhouse, a new American steakhouse from the creators of Queen Miami Beach, pays playful homage to Major General Marquis de Lafayette of “Hamilton” fame — just kidding. The venue, formerly home to El Tucán, opens to the public on Friday, May 11, in Brickell.

Carlos Rodriguez of Escala Forma Studio and Mathieu Massa, owner of Mr. Hospitality, designed the steakhouse. Its interior, just like the group’s other restaurants, is purposely over-the-top, featuring a dark jewel tone color palette of mahogany, oak, and leather, accented by bright, maximalist decor.

“At Lafayette Steakhouse, we’ve created an atmosphere where every detail exudes the opulence of a bygone era,” said Massa.

The menu, created by executive chef Kylian Goussot, reflects this opulence. Goussot, whose background includes stints at Michelin-starred restaurants and working with chefs like Joël Robuchon and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, offers starters such as caviar-topped deviled eggs, fried chicken, or fettuccine alongside raw bar items and salads. Main dishes feature an array of specialty steaks, including dry-aged NY strip and baby tomahawk, which can be topped with various sauces or even foie gras. Additional entree options include truffle roast chicken, rack of lamb, grilled branzino, and even the Lafayette Cheeseburger. Desserts are by pastry chef Nelson Mendonca, formerly of Alain Ducasse’s team.
