Default Another brainless gym dolt. :-)

I was waiting for a squat rack the other day and there were 2 guys using it
ahead of me. They were doing this thing that was a combo dead lift and
barbell curl. They would do about 4 reps of deads with about 55 lbs holding
the bar like one would to do standard curls. They then would do 4 reps of
curls, do 4 more deads and 4 more curls. Where do these morons come up with
this crap? :-)

Each other - all too often, gym "wisdom" gets passed on from one
know-nothing to the next. I visit my gym once a week and do a few
things there only because I'm in the building for other reasons, anyway.
(It's a YMCA and I'm a volunteer swimming teacher.) I do the rest of my
training at home - all the equipment I need and no waiting.

Em, you and Freides deserve each other. Make that trio with Sc(huh?),
of course.

The two guys in 'bert's initial post both, I'm assuming, paid for
their memberships, right? So wait for your turn. They're training.
They're enjoying themselves. They're getting some exercise whether
it's a traditional lifting or routine or not.

Meanwhile you're having a rant about an amino acid, Freides is busying
himself NOT taking his child to the movies (nice job, "Dad"), and
Schuh is doing his impression of a prune - wrinkling his mugly puss up
while complaining on the Internet (wonder if he said anything to the
two friends at the rack) that someone is "Waaaah!" in front of him in
line to use a piece of gym equipment.

One, two, three, can ya'll just get lives?

Hth.

They're occupying a piece of equipment that they don't need to be for a
purpose that could just as easilly be fulfilled standing NEXT TO the
squat rack.

It is a good job, teaching his kids not to talk during movies. Otherwise
they grow up to be adults that talk on mobile phones during movies and
then get killed when some nutball goes berserk because THEY WON'T SHUT
UP DURING THE FUCKING MOVIE!!!

True enough, however that fact does not negate their right - by
payment of membership dues - to make use of equipment in the gym as
they see fit and which the gym apparently allows. Right? Well?

re Freides busying himself NOT taking his child to the movies

> <snip> teaching his kids not to talk

I must've missed that part of Freides reasoning behind not taking his
child to see 300.

Thought Freides stated he hadn't seen a movie since the dark ages. If
so, what are you talking about with the "teaching his kids not to talk
during movies" schtufff?

-=snip the pet peeve=-

> *huff* *pant* *huff* *pant*

Agreed on the annoying moviegoers, however - much like the gym - I
take it as the way things often are. People pay their ticket (or gym
premium) and see the show. I'll trust that any malefactors will be
weeded out by the theater (or gym) employees. I reserve the right to
make a comment if things truly get out of hand or the fellow patron is
absolutely obnoxious, but that's the rare event.

And, hey, if Schuh's not working with more than 315, why doesn't he
just clean the weight and do his squats? ;o)

I saw a guy doing super sets of squats and curls the other day. I am all
for the super set, but what benefit would one get from curls and squats?

For some people, supersets are just a way to circuit train - work some
other muscle while the one's you just finished are resting, e.g., I
sometimes do pullups followed by pistols this way. My own motivation
for this particular combination is that the pullups sometimes make my
lower back tight and the pistols stretch it out.

No, at least he was no that goofy! He would do his set of squats, then
walk over to the curl station and do his curls, then go back to the squat
rack.

A circut is a circut. That was no circut, it was just a goofy choice of
exercises to super set.

Today I saw a man bring an exercise ball to the squat rack. He put
the bar into the lowest safety catch position. He then lay down on
the floor and put his feet up onto the ball. He used the bar to pull
himself up while moving his legs back and forth on the ball. The
woman with him tried it too but I guess she isn't strong enough.

Stupid.

The squats get you out of breath when its time to curl.

And its not like to get this "double pumped" feeling like in back/tris or
chest/bis.

THAT is a good question. The amount of idiotic exercises I see
performed in the squat rack or power rack for no reason is
unbelievable. This simply makes people who legitimately NEED to use
those pieces of equipment wait forever.

Paying for a gym membership doesn't necessarily give one the right to
be a complete idiot at the gym.

There is such a thing called common courtesy which includes not taking
up equipment when it isn't necessary.

Part of what makes a gym a GOOD gym is having members who respect each
other.

My personal pet peeve is undoubtedly the complete morons who engage in
20 min cell phone conversations while lazily using a machine that is
set at a weight that's about 1/10 of what the person should be using.

Paul,
Believe me, kill file this Curt clown. He is a troll. That is THE nicest
thing I can say about the guy too. Have you seen a photo of him yet? I don't
think he has ever been in a gym. I have not read nor responded to a post of
his in years, yet he continues to just rail on and on with this type of
inane bullshit. I could say that the sky is blue and he would say it was
red. He has zero knowledge is anything related to training or diet and
basically just talks shit all day long.

No doubt, but who decides who's the complete idiot at the gym? There's
got to be a mid ground between the lunacy of Planet Fitness' no
lunkhead, no judgment zone policy and a so-called hardcore gym's
"policy" of not letting the skinny bastards near the power racks. ;o)

Agreed. The dilemma is the definition of necessary.

True. And that - which some obviously don't entertain - is a two-way
street, don't you agree?

Absolutely. Use the bar or dumbbells and then put them back. Strip
weights from machines and Oly bars when done with your sets. Work in
or allow others to work in. Offer spots if requested. Have that common
sense, be proactive and look for those who may be reluctant to ask to
work in or to use a machine. Call me negative, but I suspect those who
complain about other gym patrons' behaviors are the same people who
fail to show courtesy in the gym themselves.

Years? Izzat right?

Is this what you call ignoring me, Rob?

How he know? I mean if he hasn't read a post of mine in years?

(shrug)

If I was Schuh I'd be screaming moron about now.

Some nice sunsets, yes? ;o)

So why do you seem so threatened by my presence? Yeah, a presence you
haven't read nor responded to in years.

Alternatively, some might say that posting about a person one has kill
filed is a cowardly form of behavior worse than talking that
proverbial shit. Ymmv.

Please note that Curt's post has very little to do with gym etiquette.
Curt simply despises me. He'll use any excuse he can to bitch about
what I write.

I don't see most of it, since I have him killfiled, and only a few of
his "pals" ever respond to him.

Ha. ~*I'm*~ not the one with the Curt-oriented web page.

Write what you will, Em. But have no illusions - I don't despise you.
I pity you at best and am still waiting for that home address and cell
phone number, of course.

Curt, why do you respond to this fucking spamming moron, who basically
is talking shit in increasing amounts? "Killfile" the useless spamming
fucking moron.

Don't forget that he has taken part in more body-building competitions
than you have had farts from the hole of your body. Fucking WOW!!

Have a great Monday old chum; we have a Bank Holiday and I intend to
carry on enjoying myself in my own inimitable style!! ;o)

i dont know but Why do people here always argue like little kids?
Now, I don't want people bashing at other people. Why don't we just
say what we want (our opinions) and just try to escape the possibility
of insulting others?

You would need to have been here for a while to understand the irony
and humour that is contained in many of the posts submitted to this

Have a great Monday - I am! ;o)

Well, i am new with to this group. But you see, i have no problem at
first, not until this robert schuh called me a moron. Given he may
have a great physique and competition days to boot, but i dont think
that gives him right to just go and bash me out. I wont boast about
my physique nor my knowledge about bodybuilding. I wont boast. Im
here to just share some opinions and learnings and of course to learn
new things with regard to training and competition.

Coz i would boast, i know i can back it up. but thanks bro.

have a nice day
