| | | Arm pain? While we're on the subject of aches and pains, I lifted too many bags of
groceries with my left arm a few weeks ago (grasping the handles of the
plastic bags with my arm extended straight down toward the ground), and
haven't been the same since. I have pain (1) below my shoulder, throughout
the posterior deltoid, and (2) above my elbow, where my triceps brachii
attach to the posterior humerous superior to the radial groove.
Any tips? I've been stretching the deltoid with my arm across my chest and
gradually warming it up and using it for swimming, and I think it's getting
better, but I can't seem to find a way to target or increase the blood flow
to the elbow pain.

Yup. I hit the nsaids pretty hard for three days, but experienced no
lasting benefit -- just the temporary pain relief. I should go back to
icing the elbow again, I guess. I kind of gave up on it when I didn't feel
any progress. I find it hard to imagine that a doctor would do anything
besides shoot me up with some steroids.

Depends on the doctor. Someone's already mentioned ice and I don't know
if that's the correct step or not, however a physical therapist seemed
to be a positive step when I suffered from tennis elbow a million years
ago. Currently working through the now-overdue 7-Minute book in the
context of a shoulder boo boo.
As I've already scribbled, I don't know if ice is the correct response,
but the RICE principle is recommended in the context of the
aforementioned tennis elbow. See: http://www.nismat.org/ptcor/tennis_elbow/
Not necessarily what you got, but...
Best wishes for a speedy and full recover, of course.
