Default Article on the RKC System

For those of you wanting an overview of what and how the Party teaches
its minions - or why I do deadlift singles, high rep kettlebell
snatches, and splits.

It's because you read the right book at the wrong time. You should
have read something not printed on paper and more obviously flawed.

So many words to say that he trains like Pavel told him to do, because
he likes it.

Interesting article. On another board, it might spur an interesting
discussion or debate about a variety of points.

Hilarious.

Even people who train mainly for strength start to dislike Stevie.

For a moment, i assumed it was just me.

Just think of it as trying to have a conversation while sitting on a
motorcycle going down the interstate - if you shout loud enough, you
might be heard. All kidding aside, a killfile helps out immensely,
although not completely.

Here is the thread where I found out about this article on the
DragonDoor board if you care to read it,

http://forum.dragondoor.com/training...4626?kbid=1022

complete with my own contribution at reducing it to one sentence.

What's good about it? It's just a bunch of unsubstantiated opinions
around an empty idea that

"Strength training is very dualistic in nature, very similar to the
Eastern Yin-Yang philosophy."

This remainds me of empty pontifications in Soviet political textbooks
exploiting such dualism, which is not so much related to Eastern
philosophy as to Marxist dialectics. It was a torture. You would read
some text like that and your head would remain as empty as the text
you've just read.

This is not a scientific article with citations - the sources to which
it refers, Pavel's books, contain plenty of references to various
studies, most of them from the former Soviet Union.

I'm allergic to dogs. I took allergy tests a few years ago; they
confirmed what I've known for most of my life. On their zero-to-four
scale, I'm am 4+, off the charts, as allergic as you can get to several
common things, including grass, mold, and dust. For dogs I scored a 2,
and for cats I scored a 1. I've lived with cats for many years - none
now, though, as my two boys are plenty enough animals in the house for
me. For cats, I'm generally OK if I don't wallow in things, but for
dogs, if I pet one I have wash my hands right away afterwards.

I love dogs but I can't live with them. If I didn't have the history of
asthma, I might be able to tough it out, but, well, you get the idea.

I think I'm much prettier than John, though. But those are a couple
of nice looking dogs.

As sympathetic as I am to your allergies, Steve, I must award the "Ain't No
Middle Aged Candy Ass White Guy" trophy to John.

I understand. I would like to be in the running, however, for the

Well, John clearly can't compete in that federation.

You, me, and who else?

Didn't the doc recommend desensitising jabs?

I had a patient once who was so allergic to the family dog, she almost
died of anaphylactic shock twice. but they loved the dog so much...I
did like them...that they brought dog hair and dander in, and our
pharmacy compounded a series of desensitization doses and she went
through all of them, just to keep the dog.

I don't love dogs that much.

My doctors told me that, with my off-the-charts allergies to several
common things, allergy shots didn't usually work. I confess that no one
specifically mentioned the dog and cat allergies because they were
pretty far down the list.

Singulair is, in my opinion, a miracle drug and should be considered by
anyone (and their doctor) to whom my situation sounds familiar. I take
one every morning, 365 days a year, along with an antihistamine (most of
the time Allegra) and together those two drugs have made a tremendous
difference in the quality of my life. The only side effect I've noticed
is a persistent need to read mfw.

Just my opinion - I'm a doctor but not that kind.

Hanson would do it.

Every asthmatic on the planet (except fascist moslems and rosie o'donnell)
should be on Singulair.

Potentially fatal side effect.

You scored 2 and 1 dog and cat dander respectively. Did you live with
more than one cat for many years?

There are a number of things you could do to decrease your sensitivity
to dogs, including selecting the right breed.

Of course, you have asthma too.....so never mind.

I love animals - I dealt with cats by washing my hands before rubbing my
eyes and other common-sense type of behavior. The cat like to lay on my
chest when I was in bed, and sit in my lap when I was in a chair. The
one cat was with me from when it was six weeks old until it was nineteen
and half - I still have dreams with that cat in them. The other cat
came to us from someone who was moving and was only with us for a few
years. It's 1 on a scale of 4, which is really quite mild by
comparison to my other allergies. Put another way, the world is full of
dust all year long, grass pollen for half the year, and mold for much of
the year, all things that I'm very, very allergic to. When they gave me
the under-the-skin tests, they laughed at how big a reaction I had to
grass - the nurse stood out in the hall and said, "We don't even need to
be in the room to see that you've had a positive reaction to that one"
and apparently the swelling at the injection site is supposed to go down
within a few hours - mine stayed inflamed and 3 days later the swelling
_still_ hadn't gone down completely. So what's a little cat dander
compared to all that?

The one cat I had for all those years was probably the right breed - it
was plain old tabby, a "short-haired domestic". Really didn't bother me
much at all.

> Of course, you have asthma too.....so never mind.

Yeah, well, there is that. Most of my asthma seems to be related to my
allergies - once I figured out the right medicines for me, which meant
Singulair and Allegra, and stopped taking Advair, things really were/are
pretty good - haven't needed a rescue inhaler but perhaps once every few
years and then it's some particularly weird set of circumstances like
the wrong weather, fatigue, exercise, and whatever else all rolled into
one.

OK, so you didn't need to know all that ...
