Default Body shakes halfway through workout

Hi everyone,
I was recently diagnosed with acid reflux and have a hiatal hernia, so
I've been away from weightlifting for about 4 months now.

I am slowly getting back into a workout routine, but I have a problem
I need help with:

I seem to get those "body shakes" about halfway through my training--
doesn't matter how intense a level of a workout. I could be out in my
backyard digging a few holes and about a few minutes later, my body
will shake...as if I needed some kind of energy drink or boost to keep
going. I don't feel nauseated, but it's almost to the point where I
do. Also, during the shakes, I lose my energy level and can not even
use my muscles anymore.

I also had this problem in the past, but it was never an issue. I am
guessing I need to stock up on some kind of food/energy drink before
my workouts?

I'm 27 years old, fyi. Thanks for any info!

Both problems run in my family. Are you taking Aciphex?

Are you taking Aciphex? Cause that gives me the shakes when I take too much.
Although it helps keep food down, I can't take too much of it. maybe that's
it.

What kind of hole were you digging in the back yard? Can you provide some
measurements for us?

I would guess you are carb depleted or suffering from low blood sugar.
Try eating a piece of fruit about an hour before a workout. If that
helps you should probably find out from a doctor the cause. Unless of
course you are just going long spells without eating any carbs.

Thanks guys..

I am about 90% sure that it's carb related because I often have to
stop in the middle of a workout just to drink something sugary
related...or even eat prunes/bananas/raisins. However, isn't this like
a symptom for people with diabetes?

Thanks.

Diabetes is too much blood sugar. What you are describing is more
like Hypoglycemia which could potentially lead into Adult Onset
Diabetes. People with Hypoglycemia pump out too much insulin when
they spike their bodies with sugar. That then brings their blood
sugar level too low. They often just need to eat more frequently with
no over indulgence of sugars all at once.

Of course I wouldn't be convinced you have this if you are on a low
carb diet. Your body needs at least some carbs and even fiber to
function properly.
