Caloric deficit

    Default Caloric deficit

I am still reading that some people actually gain weight (muscle) while on a
    caloric deficit diet.
I think thats nonsnse. It cant be done.

I have strong suspiciouns that these people only *think* their diet is
    insuffient in calories.
    But in reality its not.

How on Earth can you gain muscle when you consume, lets say, 300 Kcals below
    maintainence ?!?!?!

You cant. And if you can, where do the proteins come from?

    Does anyone agree with this?

The protein comes from protein in the diet. My body weight went from 198 to
    170. Do you mean to tell me that I was not in a caloric deficit? My strength
is up in all of my exercises and my lean body mass went up 12 lbs. As I
stated before, this is not easy to do, but it is possible. You are also not
figuring in muscle memory. Now that I am down to where I am comfortable body
fat wise, I am increasing my calories to gain more muscle.

I just got back from my appointment with my kidney specialist. I am back up
to 180, so my caloric increase is working! :-)

Rob, what was your daily kcal intake? Did you have a refeed day?

To be honest, I never counted calories. I have been doing this for so long
that I can go by feel. I always make sure to take in good protein and carbs
at all of my meals. The last time I actually counted calories was getting
ready for the Mr. Phoenix back in 1988. After that, I basically just went
with how I felt and looked and made adjustments acordingly. For some reason,
I have always approached my own training and dieting less scientifically
than I did when I worked with other people.
