I saw my cardiologist today and he said that I'm clear to continue weight
lifting, even with the PSVT and mild MVP. Even though I went to the ER in an
ambulance last week, I'm good to lift weights this week !!! :-)

Also found out that I didn't have to call 911.. he said that I could have
gone for hours or even days with my heart rate at 264bpm, before it would
start to fail. Its hard to believe really, but I trust his word. I would
probably just die of a stroke first - but that's unlikely, I guess.

Also I saw my endocrinologist this week, she cut my Synthroid dose in half
because TSH was 0.32 so I was hyperthyroid as hell. The cardiologist thinks
this is what triggered or aggravated the PSVT.

So I'm back in the game! Now I have a question... why are my biceps getting
TALL, but not WIDE. They look skinny (narrow) and tall, but they are not
filling out in width. What can I do about this? My father's and brother's
biceps are wide and fuller.. so I'm not convinced that its just bad
genetics. I'm doing the wrong exercises I guess.

Thanks,
Richard

No, you're one of the very lucky ducks with """"long lean muscles""".
You know, the muscles hyped on every goddamm late nite fitness informercial.
Boy, yer poised to make a fortune!
Just connect long lean muscles to a gadget.
Such as my HoloBarre.

But seriously, there is, as usual, a bell curve of muscle response to
stress. Some people, I've read, do not hypertrophy *at all*. etc.
You may want to consider Armour over synthroid. check out
alt.support.thyroid for opinions.
Also, certain foods and food/drug drug/drug interactions will affect
heartrate. One of the more unusual ones is watermelon seeds. No foolin.
Niacin is another. Not to mention allergies. I developed an
allergy/reaction to novacaine--pretty wild heart beat. Lucky me.

Try some reverse curls.

Well that is news to me. I probably would have called 911 if my heart
rate jumped up like that too. Hopefully you can get a grip on any
warning signs to prevent it happening again. You story sounded
pretty scary.

Why should I do that when you are the one that is wrong. They work
the outer part of the forearm just like I said. If your biceps are
getting tired doing those then your biceps are weak.

Jeez Shute...

They work elbow flexion. The biceps brachii are major elbow flexors, as
are brachioradialis and brachialis. Of the three brachioradialis has the
muscle belly primarily in the forearm.

The biceps also supinates the hand and that is why it is more affected
by movements where the palm is facing up. But to say reverse curls just
work the forearm is wrong.

I realize other muscles are involved. But if you do them right you
should primarily feel them in the outer part of the forearm. You
can't use enough weight to really overload the biceps unless that
muscle is weak. I have never tried them. But I suspect if you did a
Hammer Curl the biceps would get hit a little harder.

It's not cos you're constantly talking bollocks is it?

If you do heavy deadlifts you will feel them in the forearm. Does that mean
deadlifts is a forearm exercise?

The above 2 sentences, side by side, speak volumes.

Correct. Nobody has stated otherwise.

It isn't my fault if you never understand what people are talking
about. It is always Why? Why? Why? Why? The questions never stop and
you sill don't understand.

Exactly my point. .

Except you put the wrong two sentences together. It is Hammer Curls
which I have never tried. I have done plenty of reverse barbell
curls. The Reverse Barbell Curl task the biceps less than a Cable
Row or Chinup.
