Default drinking caffiene / sports drinks after lifting ?

I always wondered if my helping or hurting my progress by drinking
metabolism increasing drinks like "RedBull" , "Sobi No Fear" , and other
drinks with caffiene in it.

Generally after my day of intense lifting, I drink alot of protein for days
after.... but at the same time I like drinking these caffienated drinks
aswell.

Will drinking these caffienated drinks slow down my gains? (gaining weight
and getting stronger) Im just thinking off the top of my head, if my
metobolism is increased (because of those drinks) maybe the protein in my
protein drinks are getting burned off quicker and not getting to my muscles
adequately. any thoughts?

I can't answer your question, but I drink energy drinks during my workout
every time I lift. They seem to help me focus better and increase my
overall performance. I personally have made great gains with the drinks,
but I share the same curiosity about the effects of the drinks as you do.

I pull a double espresso before my workout...estimate about 100mg
Caffeine...for maybe 25cents.

How much do those boutique drinks cost and how much caffeine are in them?

Richard

They're ridiculously expensive. Red bull is $2 for 8 OZ. I've been
drinking Wired Diet Berry (A little under a buck for 16OZ). It has about
95mg of caffeine I think. It also has a lot of B vitamins, and some other
junk. I haven't tried the wired 505 but it has 505mg of caffeine. Check
out wiredenergydrink.com, they have a lot of junk. I've been meaning to
get an espresso machine but haven't got around to it yet.

A few cents for a generic caffeine pill, washed down with whatever damn
beverage you want.

Not rocket surgery

I don't consume the drinks solely for the purpose of delivering caffeine. I
have caffeine pills, sublingual B-Vitamins, and guarana pills. I rarely
ever use them though. We had salt shakers filled with caffeine at an old
company I worked for (-:

Sir Jackery is right....RedBull is ridiculously expensive.. but im
ridiculously addicted to it. Especially the sugar free one. I couldnt
stand the taste of redbull in the beginning...i thought it tasted like Cough
Syrup..and figured anybody that liked it had to be insane. Then I tried it
again...and again.. and realized I feel so much better / refreshed / alert /
energized after I drink it. Now I crave the taste in a weird way. That
stuff is so addicting in a strange, strange way. Its a very smooth
beverage that doesnt give you jolts of caffiene highs and lows...its a very
refreshing high...i guess u can say.

And taking a 200mg caffeine tab, a 25mg ephedrine tab, and a couple 500mg
tyrosine caps, washed down with water, costing a tiny fraction of a Red
Bull, would be a bad idea, why, exactly?

That is interesting how different things work for different people. Red Bull
does nothing for me.

Your combo is FAR more effective than a Red Bull. :-)

We have a generic version over here. Sugar AND sugar free.

The contents are identical, and the taste is almost identical. I always
drink 2-3 during a workout.

Each can costs me about 25 Euro cent. Which is 30-35 $ cent.
