Default The Dumbest Person in MFW

Please . . . . let's be perfectly honest, there are some pretty dumb people
in this group. I think they deserve recognition. In fact why not have a
category for "the dumbest person in mfw" ?
I mean dumb as in mind numbing stupid.
Any nominations?

Well the half that will nominate those that are most deserving of this
latest group title, will be wasting their time, as the people they
will be nominating will almost certainly be among the group's
*alleged* "killfilers", who will thus not even be able to tell the
person nominating them to fuck off, for fear of blowing their
fraudulent cover.

However, in the spirit of this new venture, I nominate en bloc all the
not so cunning (in that they fool no-one) *alleged* "killfilers" as
the "dumbest" people in MFW!!

HTH!

Please Bully, don't sell yourself short, apart from your affection for
kettlebells you are really not all that dumb at all - certainly not the
dumbest here!

you can't nominate a bloc unfortunately. It needs to be an individual. Plus
killfilers are not necessarily dumb unless you mean 'allegedly' dumb?

Let's count the number of off-topics posts per individual, eh?

You know, as though you have nothing of value to add to the "fitness" or
"weights" components of the group.

Point taken my liege; thank you for clarifying this very valid point.

Would you please tell Simple Simpson that nothing is "off-topic" in
this group. The miscellaneous section of the group covers many and
varied topics, and is by tradition easily the largest contributor to
the Group's dynamics.

He hasn't been here long enough to have much of an opinion on the
driving forces of MFW. He is an opinionated fart who offers one word
responses repeatedly, about the same old hackneyed fitness and
training topics.

These have been done to death over the years, so he needn't think is
valued when trying to ingratiate himself, by posting relentlessly on
what he thinks are "on-topic" contributions.

I just thought he ought to know that! ;o)

IIRC, it used to be called the "IOM" nomination.

(Idiot of the Month).

Might want to google for it. ;-)

Only problem is, you can't be nominated if you campaign for it.

No, I specialize in the 'misc' part.
If Einstein first published his theory of relativity here, by your logic he
would be called dumb, right?

Quite right; this is a much more serious recognition of human
fallibility, which is why the learned David the Oz is petitioning for
the truth to be established.

The IOM competition was a sad concept founded on the failed 'clique
system', relying entirely on those who had an exaggerated sense of
importance, to pick on some unfortunate bastard who wasn't very good
at defending himself.

The IOM Award was poorly administered by a nice chap who unfortunately
couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery!

Dumb is dumb and could be fun, because how do you measure dumbness
other than by knowing people and how they conduct themselves over the
long term.

Dumb is not an English (UK) expression, but it clearly means someone
who has no common sense. It doesn't mean that they are unintelligent
necessarily, but simply that they conduct themselves in a 'dopey' way.

Dumb is dopey, and there is no doubt that we have a few shining
examples in our midst, who parade their dopiness in the most
extravagant way.

Think about it. You have "Idiot of the Month"

and you have "The Dumbest person in MFW"

You could have a fairly bright person become IOM (remember that runner that
we had this big debate with about 'athletes' - he was not dumb but could
easily have won IOM for that month)

IOM could apply to a person who stubbornly hangs on to a discredited theory.
"Dumb" is more pervasive and doesn't apply to a certain period - i.e. it is
an absolute thing if you are the dumbest person in the group. The two
categories are totally different -

Not sure. I'll have to consult with the committee
The key is consistency - you can't be dumb for a couple of hours - you have
to be nearly brain dead permanently.

It's meaningless because of the factions that are ever present,
although much less now than they were a few years ago. If it was a
genuinely light-hearted fun event it would more than acceptable.

However, some of our more prominent citizens are more than prone to
making idiots of themselves, yet they aren't the sort of people who
get nominated or elected. It's always some much bullied unfortunate
bastard who has no support that ends up being chased from arsehole to
breakfast time.

I'm sure bear baiting would be much more fun, but I don't like bear
baiting either.

How the fuck are you Om mate? You've been a bit quiet again! ;o)

I'm confused...is it the "numbest" or the "dumbest"? hahaha

Stop trolling. You can have whatever interpersonal conflicts with John that
you wish, and present an argument to support your side, but it is simply
intellectually dishonest for you to claim John is dumb.

The hatred seething under his buffoonish facade is sometimes a good
thing.

It makes the pathos truly palpable.

You know what's dumb. Starting a thread that gives the trolls the excuse to
continue their lame sniping! That's DUMB!!!

Someone should point out to Simple Simpson that *he* is a "troll" and
has been responsible for most of the "trolling" in this group over the
past few months.

In fact his "trolling" here coincided exactly with his 'transfer of
affiliations' and the reduction in his "trolling" efforts over at the
uk.rec.bodybuilding group, where he is a long-standing and well known
pain in the arse.

This novel and humorous competition will be invalidated if it is used
merely to score points against those with whom we have abrasive
inter-personal relationships.

As I said yesterday, it is quite possible for intelligent people to be
described as 'dumb' (synonymous with dopey), if their behaviour over a
prolonged period of time falls short of that which might be considered
as 'normal' or socially acceptable, which may involve varying degrees
of eccentricity.

This could include someone who is manipulative and who causes constant
disruption, strife and disharmony, where otherwise it might not have
existed.

However, in order to regularise such nominations, it might be more
effective if the reasons for the nomination are given, if only to
negate the inevitable clamour from the rival factions.

Even the nominees' best friends will not spring to their defence if
the nominations are honest and accurate, particularly if they contain
a humorous element.
