It is! I'm really impressed by The Onion, i have to say. The went through
a rough patch a couple of years ago, but they're doing good stuff now, and
their videos are pure genius.
Have you ever seen The Day Today? It was a British spoof news show which
was similarly scarily accurate in tone and appearance:

My favourite episode was the one where the show engineered a war between
Australia and Hong Kong just so they could cover it:

Their 'bombdogs' story is a classic:

There's a hidden extra on the DVD where Chris Morris interviews the
foreign correspondent Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan (the name is a reference to
real correspondent Brian Hanrahan) on the day of the 9/11 attacks; the
running joke with O'Hanraha-hanrahan is that he makes up his reports,
badly, and Chris Morris always catches him out:

Much as it pains me to say this, i think the Onion News Network does it
better.

Well, I'm making a list too. But I'm also preparing appropriate
retribution. -- Graham
