Well, depends on whether or not you enjoy gross humor. <G>

They have had Hurricanes galore in Florida, and it was never the ugly

Uhm, I'll thank you for using the right term. I am merely overweight,
and not by all that much.
6'2" 207 lbs = BMI 26.6, closer to normal than obese.
Clearly, you were born dumb and have done nothing to remedy it in the
time between your birth and the present day.

I bet he's not so dumb that he would reference BMI as an indicator of
whether he were obese/overweight !!!

This is the most insulting, uninformed, prejudiced, bigoted statement I
have ever heard in my life. If you had replaced "fat" with "black" or
"Mexican", you would have been dismissed out of hand as a bigot, racist,
stupid and not worth the time of day. But just because you're bashing

Frank,
My sincere apologies for any misunderstanding.
I didn't make fun of anybody, aside from, possibly, the fictional
entity 'Karma.' Did you read what I wrote? Maybe it wasn't clear that
I was just giving Pete a virtual jab in the ribs. (I would have said,
"*playful poke* in the ribs" but I don't want to get Straight Arrow
all lathered up in a sweat.)
I, honestly, feel a kinship with people that are heavier than they
might want to be and rather than sit back and just assume they are
irresponsible eaters wonder if maybe there isn't something going on
that is at least a bit out of their control.
This certainly can't be the case for everybody, but you never know.
I work with a guy who is unable to understand how anybody can be fat.
He has been told, time and time again by his doctor, that he needs to
gain some weight. He isn't one of these 'fast metabolism' guys ... he
just doesn't eat (and I mean for days at a time). At my fattest I was
in better shape -- with respect to cholesterol, BP, activity level,
strenght, spelling, etc. -- than I've ever seen him. He has trouble
buying the fact that when my hormones got tweaked I lost weight
because he's never had the experience.
As for me, I just don't say things anymore like, "bullshit, I've been
fat and I've been thin and any time I've been fat it was tied directly
to what I'd had to eat or drink."
Still, even with bad hormones I wonder how fat I would have gotten if
all I'd eaten was 1000 calories a day. I'm not saying that would have
been a smart thing to do, it's just that blaming weight gain on low
testosterone (about what a 12-year old girl would have) and high
prolactin (I'm fuzzy on a reference here, but I'm thinking that of a
nursing mother) almost feels like I'm blaming something else for my
condition and I really believe people need to take responsibility for
their actions. All I know is that before I started taking meds to
control the prolactin I tried very hard to lose weight; I worked out
harder and watched what I ate a lot more closely -- I'd drop a few
pounds here and there but it was hard to do and never stayed off for
any length of time.
I still work out but I do a lot less cardio. I eat a lot more ice
cream than I used to.
Oh, and in the future I'd prefer, "insensitive moron." While I try not
to be insensitive, it is more correct in the sense that I've never
been so good at anything that I'd consider myself "complete" --
there's always room for improvement. |

BMI doesnt mean anyting. Mine is 34 and used to be 40.
With 26.6, its still possible to be "fat."

Being dumb, as opposed to being overweight, is not a disease, you whale with

Black people are fat, lazy and stupid.
Mexicans are fat, lazy, and stupid.
Fat people are lazy and stupid, but not always black or mexican.
My girlfriend is fat, colored and stupid. She doent like to be called black,
since she has more Indoneasian then black blood. Those are the worst, and i

And if she ever finds out i write all this shit, i wont have sex for 6

At 34 you are either obese or muscular. When I was 60 lbs heavier, my
BMI was 34.

With 34 it's more than likely that you are fat.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Being a self admitted moron, you
wouldn't even know where to begin processing that. But you too can
make an attempt to be a better person with a fuller life. I suggest
Sudoku, since working out clearly isn't making you any smarter.

PS- Aspiration, not INspiration. Set yourself a goal. Then go do
something. You must have better stuff to do than yack with "whales
with levers" whatever that means. |

Uhm, yeah. Duh.
However, I would like you to give me a technical definition of obese.
One where we can take someone's measurements and say "This person is
obese and this person isn't." Categorically. Last I checked, for all
of it's flaws, BMI is the measurement we use to say, "Overweight,
Obese, Morbid, Super Morbid, etc". If you have a better one, please
share. |

How about bodyfat percentage? That way a 220lb bodybuilder with single digit
bodyfat would not be classified by "you" as obese!

And so is a life, but you seem happy eating yourself to an early

And regarding pete's humour, it is called 'self-drepeciating humour'
in some circles.

Born yesterday?
Many fat people ARE lazy and stupid.
Many skinny people are as well, as are many short, tall, foreign, male,
female etc. The OP was quite partially correct, generally speaking, people
are lazy and stupid, no need to qualify with "fat".
If you had replaced "fat" with "black" or
> "Mexican", you would have been dismissed out of hand as a bigot, racist,
> stupid and not worth the time of day.
Why would you presume that someone who disliked blacks or Mexicans was stupid?
Prejudice has nothing to do with intellect, it has to do with experience.
Look at how many very intelligent Jews for instance are openly prejudiced
about Arabs? That not count in your world-view? A great many blacks are
openly disparaging, intolerant and prejudiced toward Caucasians. That not
count either? Many lesbians are prejudiced against men. It goes on.
It's human being we are talking about here, and there has NEVER been a
perfect group of humans by conventional, totally unrealistic PC standards.
They are all a mass of personal prejudices, biases, preferences and
misconceptions. Our primal survival responses make us distrust anything
that we are not fully familiar with - xenophobia is natural, it has to be
"untaught". It is also normal in the animal world, although there are
exceptions, as a rule different species do not mix in a social context.
But just because you're bashing
> fat ppl, you think you can get away with it. For shame....
You can get away with bashing anybody on usenet. Different thing of course
if it was done when in the same room as the person being "bashed".
Remember the old Archie Bunker classic? "The only thing that I can't stand
is bigots and niggers".
