I'm amazed by that, too, because my sense of balance is not all that good.
Also, I was clipped in and decelerated so fast with the sudden right-angle
wheel and flat tire that I almost didn't have time to unclip from my pedals.
I think I was just lucky that I wasn't hit that hard and that I happened to
make all the right moves.
Jeez. Glad to see you

Damn Homer, you a helmet salesman or what???
Wish you hadn't said that, I got helmets that are 40 years old. The old
funny looking ones.

Burr, wishing you continued Sousa Days and may you never have to put
into practice what you consider those necessary actions in order to
protect yourself.

I've been fortunate to ride with many Harley riders who, although
proud of their machines, don't disrespect other brands.

I really believe that it's worthless to worry about the unpredictable
and unseen. You can, however, prepare for the worst without living in
fear. Uh, what was the question?
Again, VERY glad to read of your survival. Too many people die on two
wheels. Ride safe and look out for the idiots!

I thought it simply meant any of the super speedy, plastic-cowled
bikes like Katanas, Gixers, etc.

Hey, it's still a "Harley!" I have a Sportster which offers me
plenty of get up and go for my riding style. Regardless, anything with
two wheels is *hella funner* than stuff with more!

No doubt. Mine's a stock 883.
I love my scoot, regardless! http://www.geocities.com/curt_james/sportster.html

EACH SEASON???
I thought recommended was three years? Just purchased a new 3/4
helmet. Had my full-face Shoei for about ten years. D'OH!

ahaHAHA! I hadn't thought of that possibility.

None 40, but two that are ten-plus.

In today's world it is just a way of life. If I see the same car two time in
one day I write down the plate number, if I see the same car two or three
days in a week I write down the number.
I always know two ways out of every place and I am very careful about where
I go in the first place.
And, that's any where in the world, the USA is just as bad as the rest of
the world.

Both Suzukis. Coinicidence? ;-)
But both are true and beloved classics nowadays. I've a Gix. Not for
sale. Ever.

OK. I'll admit that I'd try a Sportster too. Just don't tell it to my
Jap riding friends. ;-)

I once saw the same car five times in one day. I wrote down the license
plate number the fourth time. Called the cops the fifth time. Turns out it
was my own car in my own driveway and I'm losing my mind.

Tell me about it. One day I saw the same person five times lurking around.
Finally called the cops and it turns out it was my wife in our home. I'm
being sent to the group home next week. Hope they have a gym. |

Can you expand on your "What if" process - why when meeting a person?

And why do you have to protect yourself? In what way?
