Default going to be in Birmingham, AL

My wife, son and I are going to be in the Birmingham, Alabama area from
October 7th-27th.

My son is 4 years old as of yesterday.

He has moderate mobility issues (walks, but doesn't run, and doesnt' do
well on uneven terrain) and about 10% use of his left arm and hand right
now. He will have a full arm cast on his right arm Monday-Friday. He
will have use of his right arm on the weekends.

We are looking for things we can do as a family in the area while we are
there. Zoos, Aquariums, etc.

Our weekends are free from any obligations and we will have a rental
car, so driving a little ways for a fun event on a weekend isn't an issue.

Our weekdays will be free excepting about four hours a day in the middle
of the day. Any constructive thoughts anyone from the area, or familiar
with the area, has would be much appreciated.

I have never been south of Virginia on that side of the country, unless
you count airports, and am not familiar with it at all. (I have been
to Louisville a couple times on business, but that is a different story
all together).
