Default How To Dress 10 Pounds Thinner

The end of summer has wreaked havoc on most of us in two places - our
finances and our bodies. While I can't offer any solutions on paying
off your credit cards, I can help you look leaner, sleeker, and
trimmer by incorporating some fixes in your wardrobe to create an
illusion while you are dieting off the extra pounds from too many
Cosmopolitans and Crème Brulès.

The Rule of One

The most important tool you can use is one color dressing. Wear one
color, preferably something dark like navy, black or charcoal from
head to toe for a longer, thinner look. Wearing one color creates an
unbroken line and viola, a thinner, sleeker you. Two colors, by the
way, will cut you in half and give you a much wider profile. When I
said wear one color I meant just that. If you're wearing a black
blazer and black pants, wear a black blouse, shoes and belt. For some
punch you could add a colorful scarf or a fabulous pin.

The late Carrie Donovan (no relation), who was the voice of fashion
for the NY Times, always wore black. It was her signature.

The Body of Evidence

If you want to appear slimmer avoid pleats, flashy fabrics, busy
patterns and textures and avoid, like the plague, anything big or tent
like. A tent only belongs in the circus and on a heavy woman, it only
accentuates the body and makes her look even heavier. Flowing skirts
are another "no-no." They're great for period movies, but most women
cannot carry that much fabric. Now I'm not suggesting that you wear
anything tight and skimpy that will only blueprint all the flesh that
you are trying to disguise because, fit is everything. I cannot say
enough about fit when it comes to clothes. Whatever your body style,
the fit of your clothes is paramount. Fit is more important than cost.
Things that pull, sag, droop, and constrict, add pounds to everyone.
When you get

Hi all, I am 24 years old and 174 pounds in weight. I want to loose at
least 30 pounds. So I am looking for a good diet. There are so many
diets but I don't know which will work better. My choices are south
beach diet, low carb, protein, and more. But which one is better which
one will make me lose a lot of weight? If you have another diet that
worked for you please list it down. And if any web or book is there
that will tell me about this diet then please post it. Thank you.

Lyle's advice is still the best.

Losing thirty pounds is easy, especially for a 24 year-old. When
you're that young, you probably don't even need a "diet" (unless
you're an elite athlete trying for every little edge over your
opponents you might get). Just work out, hard and frequent (well, not
too hard or too frequent, of course -- your body [and not your ego]
will tell you the difference, in time).

If you absolutely will not exercise for some reason, well, okay, do a
diet, which really is very simple: have six or seven very small meals
a day, three or four of them just protein shakes, spaced two to three
hours apart. Your non-liquid meals, of which you should have at least
one or two a day, should be fresh whole foods that cover all the
basics: a bit of low-glycemic carbs, more of animal proteins, and lots
and lots of vegetables. Again, remember to keep your portions small.
Follow these general guidelines for three months and you'll have lost
thirty pounds, no sweat. (Naturally, no cheating -- weekend binges,
alcohol, etc.)

For faster weight loss (assuming you have no medical problems or
"genetic issues" and the like), tinker with those variables to taste
-- for example, do only one "real meal" every other day, with the
majority of your calories from protein shakes and vegetable juices.
Basically, some variant of "the hacker's diet," "the physicist's
diet," "the velocity diet"....

Lyle is an old fashioned "snake oil salesman" and like many of his ilk
he relies on the ignorance of the masses to regurgitate age-old
'remedies' which he has plagiarised from some previous con artist and
tarted up to appear as contemporary scientific breakthrough.

I thought you of all people Se th, gargantuan as you are, would know
that the simple remedy to an expanding shit-locker is to reduce
caloric intake.

Rocket science it aint old chum but fools and their hard earned cash
soon become distant relations.

Of course greedy self-indulgent bastards like myself and Cohen have
been yo-yo dieting for ages. Cohen likes to give the monkey fucker
credit for the protein sparing crap, but in essence that too was
plagiarised and is just crash dieting by another name, which like any
other crash diet works - but with the inevitable downside of a swift
return to the fat bastard status quo.

My annual bant is proceeding satisfactorily and ere long I shall be
trim, taut and terrific again - until next time!! ;o)

Charles, good to see your name on the post and I agree with much of what
you assert. For 99% of people this isn't rocket science. Anyhow, g'day
from Oz on the day that this country finally said sorry to the first
nation people!

G'day Bob, how the fuck are ya mate? ;o)

The politically correct 'ear content yaffler'
('http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ipvdBnU8F8) has done an enormous
disservice to the people of Australia, and the rest of us that respect
and honour historical truths.

Like many of the bleeding heart liberals worldwide, he is pandering to
vociferous minorities in order to placate them. This in effect is
cowardice, ducking the real issues as it always does, in return for a
quick fix.

The reality is that vociferous minorities have their own agendas, and
will never be satisfied with placatory gestures. They will always be
looking for more concessions, thus proving the old adage: "give them
an and they'll take a mile.

The vast majority of Australians do not see this as a disservice.
Indeed the opposite. We recently elected this new government partly on
the basis of what happened today. I, as a 7th generation Australian
applaud what happened today. This isn't about bleeding hearts, it's
about doing the right thing and moving forward.

I refrain from letting my true disgust at your sentiments.

What a lot of old twaddle; the sins (whatsoever they may or may not
have been) of the father cannot and must not be visited upon the sons.

Such tactics will inevitably come back and bite the perpetrators in
the arse. What is important is how we move on from our historical past
and do what is right in interests of us all now and in the future.

Sorry if what I say does not meet with your approval, but I make no
apologies for my steadfast conservatism.

The Australian people will ultimately miss the wise head that was John
Howard and rue the day they lurched to the liberal left.

Low-glycemic carbs ARE vegetables.

Well, that would work, but there is no need to drink protein drinks or
any of those things. Lots of ways to get the correct calories and
nutrition in a day. What works for one will not work for another too.
You are right about one thing certainly, and that is that she must
limit the calories to lose weight. I assume what you are recommending
worked well for you, so you feel confident recommending it. On the
other hand, I lost 95 pounds and kept it off and did none of those
things. Lots of ways to lose weight and probably do it safely and in a
healthy manner. I never drink calories for one, because that is too
easy of a way to consume calories and for many of us, we feel like we
haven't "eaten" anything. dkw

Yes, I know, I had in mind "grains" when I distinguished "carbs" from
"vegetables."

Sure, if you're just the average sedentary type. Anyone with a
decently serious athletic lifestyle will probably want to be more
intelligently selective about long-term calorie restriction.

Well, the OP claimed not to have time even to eat, so I guess a shake
will have to suffice.

Yeah, I used to just exercise and lose weight within two weeks. Can't
do that now...advancing age, I suppose.

That's why the OP reported being hungry despite the protein shakes,
and that's why I'd recommended taking fish oil or flaxseed oil supps,
etc., for that "full feeling" which comes with fats.

Losing weight is an interesting hobby, actually...I'm currently only
having one or two "real meals" a day myself, the rest of my intake
being protein shakes and veggies, and I'm losing weight slowly...thing
is, I *feel* like I'm losing weight a lot faster than I actually
am...likely due to my imagination, to be sure, but nonetheless I feel
lighter and even more energetic, etc. Why, I just got back from the
gym a couple of hours ago and it was a great workout despite my not
having had a real meal all day today! I didn't lose strength or
anything -- and I didn't even take any creatine before the workout!

Then again, I didn't commute to work by bicycle on account of the
rain, so maybe that explains things...cardio seems to really drain me.

I must have missed something.
What happened in Australia?

I do have to agree with you Charles on letting the past go.
I'm sick to death of being "punished" because my forefathers kept blacks
as slaves. I treat them as equals at work. Always have, always will.
They need to bloody well reciprocate and stop dwelling on past sins.

Let the dead lie in peace.

The Australian Prime Minister formally apologised to the Aboriginal
population for past alleged racist behaviour by successive Australian
governments and the Australian people.

All previous Prime Ministers have steadfastly refused to be drawn into
this infamous politically correct bullshit!!

I see.

Does he really think that is going to accomplish anything?

I know that a LOT of Germans still feel guilty about Hitler et' al'.
I went to high school with a German foreign exchange student that was in
to all that.

Poor kid.

While I do believe that the world can use a bit more courtesy
(especially on the local freeways), a lot of PC garbage goes WAY over
the top.

I think it's causing some mental cripples.

Just IMHO of course.

In order for there to be a 'next' time, there must have been a 'last' time.

It's okay. China is buying the US too just that it is subtle. They
invest Trillions in the US so that the US can buy more crap from China
so that China can then invest more in the US. The trade imbalance is
amazing. One day somebody will wonder what happened, and yes China is
doing it to Oz as well. They are now investing big time in our mining
industry.

China is not the only country involved in the US trade imbalance.

why do you say 'crap'? Where do you get that from - that means that 90% of
consumer goods is crap from Grundig to Sony to Fiat etc etc - EVERYTHING is
made in China these days

Maybe crap was too strong. China is a nation of assemblers, nor
designers. When they become designers, the cost will go up and then
maybe India will become the new flavour. The actual country with the
greatest exports I read recently was Germany, but Chine will overtake
them in 2-3 years. The point I was alluding to was that an economic
infiltration is a powerful tool.
