The 80% story is just a way to keep your parents from bashing your head
with a rock, anyone who gets accepted to a community college scored
between the 85th and 90th percentile. Any report below the 85th
percentile was probably reported as 80% to keep your parents from
putting you in a home. |

Enough to peg you as a loudmouth Jersey asshole.
But please do send along your wife. She's probably tired of a husband

Anyone can get into a community college where I grew up. Only about
40% actually finish. Your numbers sound ridiculous. All I can think
of is if you went to a special school where everyone passes and you
all get A's. Where I grew up people where more realistic. I think
anyone with a 60 percentile could get in and pass at community college
if they worked at it. |

But you only hoisted that in after you received legal advice from your
chum "Charles", warning you of the consequences of your unlawful
conduct and potentially criminal intentions.
I am delighted that it enabled you to see the error of your ways, but
of course any alleged lawyer worth his salt would have known prior to
committing himself to criminal intent in such a public way.

That rule doesn't seem to work well for the US, which unlike Britain
or some of nowadays Eastern Europe is a classless society. Marx would
be tearing hair from his voluminous beard. |

Britain is hardly a classless society... and neither is the US as you've
already observed.
Are there truly any classless societies on the face of the planet?
Realistically?
Marx was not a realist. Human nature needs that carrot on a stick, and
we need leaders. That's reality. People get lazy and do the absolute
minimum necessary to get by if they have nothing to strive for. No hope
of getting ahead.
That's what happened in Russia. Hell, a high percentage of the
population were alcoholics! I'd be interested to see just how high that
figure was.
People with no hope don't work hard.
I have an average middle class income of slightly over 50K. I could have
afforded a more expensive vehicle but I'm just not into the whole
"status symbol" thing. This truck fits my needs and it's still in good
condition, and it's paid for.
I have other priorities for my money. :-)
I also get most of my clothes at Wal-mart and Ross Dress for Less.
We all have our priorities in life!

One might be able to break free from their current class. But that
doesn't make it a classless society. I saw some guy complaining at a
corporate fast food place that an applicant to work there didn't dress
well enough. Apparently he thought it was an important enough job
that people should dress up to get the job. Everyone else in the US
thinks they are bottom of the barrel no matter how they dress.
If you really want to see the classes get a job as a servant to and
establishment where the wealthy entertain. Note that they will never
look you in the eye. |

I can only guess that DZ meant the classes are not fixed. If a person
gets with the program they can jump classes. Although most people do
not move up more than one notch. In other societies you are born
into it and you cannot not move no matter how talented you are. |

Have been smoking jimson weed, Om? :-) I wrote that the US is
classless which is UNLIKE Britain. You simply equate income with the
"class" attribute, which is exemplified by the fact that you call
yourself "middle class", simply based on your salary:
> I have an average middle class income of slightly over 50K. I could
However, nobody in the US gives a damn which strata you originated
from, and that's the point!

We all had plenty of hope. The drinking is more of a cultural thing,
and it's just as prevalent now. Russia is a heavy drinking country for
sure, but it doesn't really stand out in either consumption or binge
drinking rates - http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publicatio...7-1/95-109.pdf

But he who has the gold still makes the rules...
Until a poor black man from the ghetto can get the same level of justice
as a wealthy white (or rich black athlete for that matter), I'll never
consider us to be a totally classless society.
Yes, everyone is capable of advancing themselves here but it takes a lot
of skill and determination.
In societies that have true classes (or worse yet, castes), there really
is no hope.

Sorry, I prefer not to DL a lot of pdf's.
I think there is a lot more hope in Russia now...

Actually in Texas, a truck is more of less of a Status symbol, but I
only paid 13 grand for this one new. The real status symbols are the big
Mofo's that run close to 25 grand. They might be more now. I've not
priced them in awhile.
But insurance is higher and so is fuel expenditure...

Actually, lack of sleep...
I've had problems with insomnia the last couple of days.
That's my excuse and I'm stickin' with it. ;-)
