Default Interesting quote from Dennis Wolf

Let me first say that since ANMD became MD I have not read a muscle mag.
However, having just being emailed an electronic copy [using Zinio] of said
ANMD I had a browse through it. For some reason the interview with Dennis
Wolf caught my eye, and whilst I would normally treat any training/diet
advice attributed to a pro-BB with a healthy dose of scepticism, the
following quote relating to pre-contest prep interested me: "...I keep my
weight training the same year-round." and " I keep the reps the same. I do
10-12 reps for everything upper body except biceps...I do 10-12 reps for
quad exercises, 15-20 for hams...".

So if the article is to believed, this pro-BB doesn't switch his
routine/exercises to "confuse the muscles" & sticks with a relatively high
rep range!!!

Thats just it, he's a probodybuilder, not somebody struggling to
increase muscle, he's in maintainence mode to stay in his current top/
fit shape so different goals than the norm gym rat. On the other hand,
his quote (or your snip of it) didnt state that he doesnt switch
around or add different exercises or that he doesnt increase the
weights used, just that he keeps 'weight training the same year
round' (vague, could mean the amount of time and nothing more) and
that the reps are the same (what about sets?). So quite possibly his
quote didnt mean what you thought he meant?

I don't think that you need to change things all that much either. He can
keep things changed up with adding weight and training more intensely in the
off season etc. Remember too that everyone is different, so what may work
great for him may not do a thing for you.

Joanne,
Don't ever let a pro bodybuilder hear you say that he is not trying to get
better. :-) Even the biggest guys think that they need to gain muscle. These
guys train their asses off. Have you seen the videos of Ronnie Coleman doing
800 lb squats and deads close to a contest?

He will be able to make a good deal of changes by just adding weight,
changing intensity etc. We also have to remember that everyone reacts to
training and diet differently, so while this routine may work incredibly
well for this guy, it may not do a thing for someone else.

Nice archive of their covers there.
