Default MFW is dead. Even the trolls have lost interest

This place is now a wasteland. Little of any interest. No vibrancy. It has
become a fetid swamp.

You know, this past summer my gym underwent major changes, major
renovations, so drastic that they even shut it down for a whole
weekend, in addition to the constant work that was done during normal
operating hours.

So many people had left in disgust, there was a sinking-ship feeling
to the place...but then I realized, hey, I no longer wait on line for
anything! When I go, I practically have the place to myself! And
it's nice being able to spread out your stuff in the locker room.

I wouldn't mourn for the MFW of old. It had too much fat and
bullshit. Things are leaner now, conversations tighter and more to
the point.

The MFW of old was part of the old usenet, which was really riding on
the whole novelty of the internet. Those who were just tourists
anyway eventually went home. And that's a good thing.

O David, do your part to pick it up and get it going!

I haven't seen a gym related post from you in sometime. Are you still
working out, are you using a three or four day routine?

Remember, we are a group of "Like Minded" people talking about things that
interest us!!

I'll post about my workouts from time to time even if I get some smart ass
remark from what seems to be some people who don't even get in the gym.

I took five weeks off the bike and one week out of the gym but tomorrow I'll
be back in the gym and Tuesday I'll be on my bike. The medicines that the
doctor give me are making me feel a lot better and I'll get going tomorrow.
I still have to dissolve two kidney stones and get the fat away from my
liver so I have my work cut out for me.

How what health/gym thing do you have to add to the list? You're a diabetic
but you didn't say anything while we were talking about it how it relates to
the gym!

Don't even open crap from trolls, they are not worth your time.

Merry Christmas,

Burr

PS: You and I get to celebrate Christmas a day before those poor people
living in "Yesterday". The 24th is my 66th birthday, I'm getting old.

Nice gym post POW. Now if you would use your name and stop "trolling" @
times it would be nice.

Merry Christmas,

I think there is room for everyone. Unfortunately, in the usenet of the
1990s, a lot of people created little fiefdoms in their groups and chatrooms
and tried to rule them as personal kingdoms. These folks would have a cadre
of sycophants who would support them and attack those that were outsiders.

That truly is the old usenet, and that is why I try not to attack folks like
Shue and others who still cling to the old ways. They have left because they
were relying on bullying in order to get attention and acclaim. Now that
there is no clear cut leader, they cannot stand to just be one thread among
many. Take Willie Brinks as a perfect example of someone who left when he
realized that people just weren't buying his bull anymore.

That's a bit defeatist after all we fought for; the Group is good and
in a great stage of transition, free of the bullying clique that used
to reign here.

I know you're just "trolling" you bugger, but the rest don't so I
thought it was worth mentioning!!

Have a great weekend - you know I intend to!!

So what's wrong with fetid swamps? You'll be hearing from the Society
for Acceptance of Fetid Swamps, David.

Sixty-six sounds younger to me now than it did, say, twenty or thirty
years ago. That much is certain!

Again, Happy Birthday! Enjoy your cake, but spare the icing? How's

I already am. :-)

Birthday party today for a good friend.
Nathan makes the best BBQ Brisket in the county!

Tomorrow we once again clean up the mess on the front porch, then I need
to wrap all the Yule gifts and get them ready for Wednesday for the
Nephews.

It'll be nice to have family back in town for Yule this year.

It's been 3 years...

Sea level rise. Not good for existing wetlands. Remains to be seen to what
extent it creates, shall we say, opportunities for new wetlands.

No but seriously, folks, wetlands are terrifically important parts of the
ecosystem. Acre for acre, far more valuable than praries or rainforests or
any of that National Geographic bullshit. Did you know that the global
selenium cycle is completely dependent on biotic processes mediated by
wetlands? SCIENCE FACT. No swamps, no selenium, everybody dies. They do
all sorts of other crazy shit too.

Hmm. I imagine it would take a goodly amount of time. (sigh) NONE of
this is covered in PubMed.

See? Swamps need love.

But I honestly have to look up the word fetid. What is that? Hot and
moldy?

....

Ah, a putrid smell. Well, nothing a few air fresheners or some Febreze
wouldn't fix.

You're traveling or is family coming your way? I'll be heading to
Lancaster County for a family gathering. The gym's open until noon
today and I've got shoulders (gotta improve these "cheap coat hanger
delts" of mine), traps, abs, and calves on the agenda. Yesterday was
legs and 205x9,8,7,6, and 6 reps.

Please post pics of the dishes if you're cooking! )

Family moved back to town.
I'll finally be able to see my nephews on Christmas morning for the
first time in 3 years. :-)

Sis' is cooking again.
And, to top it off, my stove is busted.
I'll call GE after the first of the year. I'm not even going to try to
get a repairman over here during the holiday season. :-P

In the meantime, I'll be using the table top roaster, electric grill,
microwave and a hot plate.

I can still cook without a working stove. ;-)

My Glass Top GE was $800.00. It's worth at least attempting to have it
repaired.

Smart move. Sorry to hear about the stove, of course.

WHO IS MACGYVER??!!!?!

Give Om a paper clip and a dead parakeet and he'll give you glazed
Cornish hen stuffed with wild rice and mushrooms in twelve minutes!

My first car cost $800. No lie. A Ford Maverick back in 1979.

Best of luck with the repair work, Om.

My first car cost me $875 in 1975. A 1968 GTO with a "Judge" cam and Holley
650 double pumper carb. I raced Camaros, Trans Ams, Novas, Civics, bicycles,
pedestrians, and damn near anything else that moved. Once even
unintentionally "raced" a police car (didn't know he was chasing me till he
caught me at a stoplight). Ran that car into the ground and eventually sold
it for $50, but I learned a lot about car repair and that a humble mea culpa
to cops was the best way of getting out of a ticket.

A GTO, eh? I'd buy that for $50. ) And I learned early on about the
humble mea culpas and police officers. Some cops can be total jerks
but most are just regular people looking for a tiny bit of respect and
common courtesy.

Maybe three, four years ago, an officer pulled me over for speeding on
Thanksgiving. I didn't give him lip, said the minimum amount
necessary, but did call him sir or officer at least once. He gave me a
break, saying that he appreciated my behavior.

I've told my students more than once that when a policeman pulls you
over that you don't go off on him, saying something like, "WHAT IS
YOUR PROBLEM, MAN?!" Much better to think that than to verbalize it,
imo. Spoke to some teachers recently, too, similar sentiments wrt a
student's issued detention. "You don't give a cop the finger and then
expect favors when he pulls you over a few miles down the road."

Well, I guess you can expect the favors, but don't be surprised when
you don't get 'em.

Anyway, I wonder where that GTO is now. I'm sure the Maverick is a
crushed chunk of metal in some landfill.

The oven is coming on by itself, and staying on...

If the oven was not coming on, it would not be a problem as I could
still use the cooktop.

It's a serious problem.

I could not turn the oven off last night, so had to unplug it.

But thanks.

Especially if the cop is female. Have you seen the female cops? At my gym
there is a bib black Highway Patrol officer who comes by every afternoon for
her girlfriend, the spinning class trainer. Cops love big firm breasts.
Everyone does.

I don't like big breasts
Because there is a very fine line between big and droopy. Nothing as off
putting as a slight girl with large fake breasts. I like breasts that are
symmetrical with the rest of her body.
Now there are exceptions i.e. Will Brink has nice big breasts of course
sooner or later they will become droopy.

Brinks breasts are not that big. They are like a 34-B or a 36-B, but his
look kind of spongy. The kind of flabby breasts that feel like a flabby ass
cheek. Brinks could use breast implants or else he might try lifting weights
and concentrating on all the chest exercises that women do for their
breasts. With a little effort, Brinks breasts could look firm.
