| | | nyone even go to the gym anymore? I had a hell of a arm workout Monday and today my arms are killing me.
Did get in a nice 21 mile bike ride today before the rains came down.
Looking forward to tomorrow at 8 when I do a hell of a leg workout.
Just can't wait to get in the gym and hurt myself, love it.
I don't know, maybe I'm getting a "little" to old for this crap.
You kids try to do something in the gym this week.

I lift at home. With all the rate rises here in Australia hammering
people in a misguided attempt to slow inflation I just couldn't afford
the gym anymore.

Hey Bubba, I'm one week outta the hospital for a collapsed lung and back in
the gym. Of course my workout was on par with that of a sedentary 90-yr-old
obese unidexter grandma with diabetes and congestive heart failure, but at
least I got my ass in there (the gym, that is).

I had a day off yesterday, but beside that I'm working out
relig^Wregularly. Today it rained.

I did about a hundred kilometers on a bike today, also before the rain.
All fits perfectly. Is your bike capable of over 200 km/h in third
gear too? ;-)

I don't anymore. I'm much too much into other things ATM, so training
is something I have to force myself doing. But once I start I'm having
good workouts.

If it's still fun, why stop? Life's too short for not looking forward
to tomorrow.

I don't workout at the gym, but I have been putting some time in with
the iron as well.
Summer is coming on strong, and for me that means that I will invariably
be asked to assist with church members who are moving out of the
neighborhood. In fact, I helped a buddy move a few weeks ago, and I was
surprised at how quickly I became fatigued. I thought I was prepared
for moving, but apparently carrying 40 lbs. boxes up a flight of stairs
is not the same thing as deadlifting or overhead pressing. After just a
few trips my back was on fire.
So for the last few weeks I have started each day (except Sunday) by
going up and down the stairs of my house 20 times carrying a 50 lbs. bag
of rice. I like it.
I've been complimenting this exercise with something from the tactical
strength challenge. Today is kettlebell snatch day. When I get home
from work I will be doing 20 minutes of kettlebell snatches with my 54
lbs. kettlebell starting on the top of each minute. I will start by
doing 5 with each hand, but I probably won't be able to finish all 200
reps. At least my calluses are finally starting to thicken back up.
Tomorrow I do pullups.

Nice empty reply a few moments ago. D'OH!
Hey, Ari, hopefully Planet Fitness will expand down under. At $10USD
(PF's basic monthly fee) that's, what, a buck and a quarter AUD,
right?

Have I told this story?
A child looked at my hand and asked, "What's that?"
"Those are calluses," I replied. "They're from lifting weights."
Incredulous, the child exclaimed, "_You_ lift weights???"
Nice.
Way to boost your teacher's self image.
Reminds of the 120-pound comedian who, huffing and puffing as he
arrived at the mic, apologized to his audience: "I'm sorry I'm out of
breath. I just got done bodybuilding."

Is it tomorrow? How many did you do? Do you do one set? More?
Details!!!!

Actually, I call them Elder's Quorum carries (you probably have to be
Mormon to understand).
From what I understand very little rice bag carrying is going on in
Myanmar. More's the pity.
I probably should do them with a box full of phone books as that would
be more awkward to carry and more similar to the crap that I end up
dragging out of people's basements, but for now I am sticking with the
bag o' rice.

I agree, that was well played.
Speaking of calluses, I lost of big piece of my right hand at about the
100th rep. That really dampened my enthusiasm for more.
Twenty minutes of kettlebell snatches can really seem like a LONG time.
I liked it though. Working towards getting in all 200 reps will
definitely be a good thing for me. I've let myself slip more than a
little over the last few months.

Not everyone can be huge, I suppose. I get the same response, but it's
because I am still fat. There's probably a rainbow in there somewhere
for both of us.

The pullups went poorly due to some problems at work. So I will
hopefully do them today. Unfortunately, my ability to do pullups has
decreased dramatically. With the layoff I added some weight and lost a
fair bit of strength. My pullup workout consists of 10 sets of 1-3
reps (because that's what I can do).
On the bright side, my little girl is sleeping through the night pretty
consistently, and I have been having quite a bit of fun getting back
into the swing of things.
