Default OT Damn

Damn, it's zoo.

Three years ago we had a 7-foot cobra in the tiled yard around the weight
bench.

Last week we had a 3 foot cobra in the kitchen and my little Minpin got him
and just now I heard all hell brake lost and we had a "KAMBUBULI - (syn)
bubuli; a species of lizard." In the kitchen.

This thing was about 2 feet long but the little minpin (The Miniature
Pinscher, also known as the Min Pin) gave him hell and keep him cornered
until work hands could get him.

When I lived in the California deserts it was rattlers so it all works out
but with the cobra's you only have 30 minutes and that's it.

In Houston we had flying roaches the size of bats. Now I live in OC near the
beach and the only dangerous critters we get here are drunken/stoned
surfers. Oh, wait, in the canyons we have rattlers and man-eating mountain
lions but they only kill about three hikers/bikers a year.

My wife would die. She is ridiculously afraid of snakes. I killed a
foot long garden snake a few weeks ago, and my wife *still* won't go in
the back yard.

I'll take mountain lions and rattlers over cobras any day of the week.

Once upon a time I was in the steam tunnels under A&M and decided to
surface to check location. As we approached a manhole surface shaft
(about 10 feet long or so) a musty smell became more and more
pronounced. As I began to stand more fully upright in the access
shaft I paid more attention to a whispery noise all around me and
turned on my flashlight to discover that the walls of the shaft, from
the surface down to about eye level, were covered (every square inch)
by those big honking batsized tree roaches and the noise I heard was
them moving about en masse. I sank back to my crouching position in
the main tunnel and whispered to my buds that it would be a good idea
to leave and right now.

The vision of thousands of those things suddenly taking flight was a
bit much.
