Default OT - ExRx.net push up test

I wonder what population ExRx.net has in mind when they say that
the average eighteen-year-old male can do 46 push ups without stopping.

And then, there are pushups and there are pushups.
Most of the pushups I see being done are more like 1/3 of a pushup.
Let'em do pushups on 3 chairs, where the sternum has to reach below the
plane of the chair seat.

No mention of guns or dogs - of course it's _off_ topic, silly.

Out of shape, aye. Weight is another factor ExRx don't consider.

What, like those push ups that pass for one-handed ones in Rocky?

With the chair the feet are on higher than the other two chairs.
Or two chairs, one table. What about handstand push ups between two
chairs, or one-handed handstand push ups on a chair, or weighted
one-handed handstand push ups on a chair... or, the pièce de
résistance, weighted one-fingered handstand push ups on a chair.

Hand-stand pushups rool!
Used to do them on phone books.

"Free handstand" pushups are incredible. Came close to doing 1/2 of
1--once.
Saw a guy on TV, just a glimpse, do **multiple** one-handed *free-handstand*
pushups!
HTF is that possible??????

But then, these are not really comparable to horizontal pushups, being much
more weight AND different muscles.

The data says it is old. We used to take physical fitness tests when
I was a kid. Nowadays the kids are all fat.

Here is an interesting link on the average Joe:
http://strengthplanet.com/other/are-...erage-joe.html

Apparently the average American consumes 4236 calories daily.

I'd like to see sources for some of their numbers.

I guess the numbers for this one make sense, but whoever wrote the
article is very confused about bra sizing. "The average American women
[sic] wears a 36 B bra. That's up significantly from the former 34 B
bra size worn by the average American female in 1990. Is it due to
better exercise and diet or better silicone? Only the average plastic
surgeon knows." Umm. It's probably due to excess back fat.

Hey I didn't learn the reason until I got into my 30's. And I know a
lot more than the average Joe about female body parts. It had to have
been some young guy if he felt the need to add in a boob joke.

I found the exercise once a week average amusing. That explains why
the gym is empty on most days. And the amount of TV people are
watching is staggering. Don't they know TV sucks nowadays.
