The only way to guarantee a pet's diet is to make the food yourself.
There are some people that do that...

If you ever decide to try it, there are powdered vitamin/mineral
supplements that Jeffer's pets sells in bulk containers.

I just did a quick search at http://www/jefferspets/com to see what they
had and they even had a special supplement for Copraphagia. <G>

<shudder> I would not.
I used to raise rats to feed a pet boa constrictor and when I switched
them from Purina to Ol' Roy, I had 3 sows die during pregnancy. Necropsy
showed that they bled to death thru the Uterus.

That food is pure crap.

The young feeder rats also showed stunted growth.

My cats will eat generic brants, but grudgingly.
They really don't like them and I get upset with my housemate whenever
he buys them.

Their kibbles get switched around to keep them happy, but their canned
food is "9 Lives". Even one elderly cat with hyperthyroidism managed to
gain a bit of weight on that canned food.

Might be because she ate more of it. ;-)

The dogs have never been picky, but they get Canidae now;
And meat/bone scraps that are safe for consumption.

Calfs foot bones most recently. They really like those.

What gun list do you post on?

I'd like to see some of that. :-)

Speaking of guns...

I finally got my replacement part from Taurus last Monday and got to
play with my 9mm at the range Saturday morning. I noted that the inside
of the gun was a bit dry which might be why it broke in the first place.

I carefully applied a bit of Rem-oil to the interior before
re-assembling it this time.

Put 90 rounds thru it (3 different brands of cheap 9mm ball ammo., CCI,
Magtech and Ultramax). Not a single jam. Flawless performance. ;-)

Here are 3 targets using Ultramax which was the cheapest. Bought it in
bulk with an ammo box. Yes I know I need to work on my 25 yard shots...

Taurus PT-92, 25 yards, Standing, Ultramax:
http://i15.tinypic.com/2lkweau.jpg

Taurus PT-92, 15 yards, Standing, Ultramax:
http://i18.tinypic.com/314xjj9.jpg

Taurus PT-92, 5 yards, Standing, Ultramax:
http://i17.tinypic.com/2djyoeg.jpg

I've also gotten better with the IJ .22. I used to have a prejudice
against small, light guns because I could not hit the broad side of a
barn with this one. I've started using the Weaver stance (and read up on
proper grip) and my precision has gotten a lot better. I'm looking at
Cold Pythons now as a backup weapon:

Iver Johnson .22 with Rem. Thunderbolt, 10 yards:

Break Free is my favorite.

People who love their guns only feed them expensive ammo.

No, wait, that's pets, not guns. Sorry. I got confused

Well, it was ball ammo. I wouldn't expect much failure. Gotta' put a few
hundred rounds of full power hollow points throught it, too.

Nicely done.

Get some Religion of Peace Practitioner targets. Might as well get used to
that sight picture now.

The question is - is the Nutro and Iams manufactured to different specs than
Old Roy? Or do they just pump the same crap into different bags?

I don't think that's the question, for two reasons:

1) It doesn't excuse the lies.

2) The "specs" aren't the issue for me. The quality is. Most all pet foods
have the proper percentage of protein, fats, micronutrients. The issue is
the quality of those ingredients. The shills for the pet food companies on
the dog news groups like to maintain that macronutrient percentages are all
that matter. Despite the fact that a proper % food could be compounded with
the slop shoveled off the slaughter house floor, some road kill, and a bit
of elephant shit thrown in. It is unreasonable to believe that the same
manufacturing plant uses fresh, wholesome, human grade meat and by-products
for one company, and animal digest from euthanized pets for another.

Speaking of which, a large study of dog foods found traces of pentobarbital
in many of them (the ones on the recall list, for example). There is only
one possible source of pentobarbital in dog foods: euthanized pets and zoo
animals. Yummy

For your trip to Las Vegas? There are two within a short cab ride from The
Strip: The Gun Store on East Tropicana, and American Shooters off West
Spring Mountain on Arville. Both will rent you anything you want, including
full auto submachineguns. Have fun

I've been meaning to start smoking - thanks for the reminder.

FWIW, my choice of cat food was never part of any grand design. I just
never seemed to be able to find the same thing at the store on a regular
basis.

not heard of the reverse.

But there's a slight extra charge if you want the magazines to successfully feed rounds.

Where do you get this? GM has distinct plants all over North America, often using
a unique plant for each platform, and some only for parts.

A better analogy are Lexus/Toyota and Acura/Honda, where manufacturing is
mostly common to both nameplates.

But his basic point stands: once a company puts its nameplate on an inferior product, that
brand no longer means anything. That trust is broken... for good.

Might have to try some.
Do you think it's better?

Yes, in time.
Ammo has gone up lately tho'.
I'm planning on learning to reload.

You are correct tho' that I need to feed it some of what will actually
be carried in it. To not do so is asking for trouble if TSHTF.

Thanks.
I do need to do more distance shooting.
It's a good challenge.

I go to the range every Saturday morning now but am conservative on how
much ammo I consume per session. It's very peaceful there at dawn when
there is nobody else around. Very meditative.

The Hill Country has it's charms.

Annual membership is only $75.00 per year and I can shoot as long as
it's full daylight. Plus the range does not pick up pistol brass... ;-)

???

I'd like too see those.

The targets I'm currently using are 8 1/2" x 11" xeroxed from prints I
made on my home printer from this website with downloadable PDF files:

Cheers!

There are many, and they are varied. And precisely none of them are anything

I read "probability of turning out some bad cans" as meaning that
"some" is greater than zero. So, this behaves similarly to the
prob. of turning out at least one bad can, which increases with the
number of cans produced.

It's not smoking - it's the hair. My last cat lived for 25 years,
because my hair is unprecedentedly coarse and thick, so I have to buy
that Thinning & Finening (sp?) Volume Reducing shampoo from a
kettlebell vendor.

But she also never had "catfood" and lived off the raw (previously
frozen) Alaska Pollock.

Popular with the military. I like it cause it cleans and lubricates and
doesn't make a mess and works good and is pretty cheap and I can't think of
another reason but I was on a roll and didn't want to stop typing.

What college has a 3-year-long curriculum in cat food?

Were all the basketweaving classes full?

Why would you need it? Your kids probably have seen some tits already.
