Washington, D.C. - In a shocking and brazen act of governmental abuse
of parental rights, Deerfield High School (DHS) in Deerfield,
Illinois, has required fourteen-year-old freshmen to attend a
"Straight Gay Alliance Network" (GSA) panel discussion led by "gay"
and "lesbian" upperclassmen during a "freshman advisory" class which
secretively featured inappropriate discussions of a sexual nature in
promotion of high-risk homosexual behaviors. |

This is very misleading. The students are attending presentations
that promote tolerance, in order to prevent misunderstanding on
campus. Nothing more. |

Then why were they required to sign confidentiality agreements, and
why won't the school district allow parents access to the materials
that were used in the presentation?

It doesn't matter anyway. Agreements with minors aren't legally
binding anyway - the school should have known better.

It doesn't matter if the agreement was legally binding or not. What
matters is that the school district sought to hide this particular
presentation from the parents of its school children. There simply
isn't a good reason for that *ever* to be the case. I don't care
*who* is presenting, and I don't care what the topic is. The
educators involved with my children had better *never* say to them
"don't tell your parents," much less have them sign some sort of
confidentiality agreement.
The whole idea is just ridiculous. In fact, if it weren't for the
fact that people are hypersensitive about upsetting the gay and
lesbian communities and being labeled as a "bigot" the school
administrators would probably already be looking for new work at the
nearest fast food establishment.
If saying that I don't want the school system to encourage my children
to hide stuff from me is being bigoted, then call me a bigot.

Dividing the children from their parents, lying to the parents if
needed, indocrination brainwashing, keeping the parents from seeing
the materials or sitting in the classes. They hate the family. They
hate the traditional way of life of our parents and grandparents.
It is nothing less then war declared on the family. God help us
all! When are we going to fight back?

Don't get yourself all upset now. My wife and I have a family and
raised kids. As they were growing up I went to more schoolboard
meetings then I can remember and asked questions, and complained when
I disagreed about things, went to more parent teacher council meetings
then I can remember and questioned people, complained, pointed out
stupid stuff like the "Whole Language" method of teaching reading.
That stupid method of teaching reading results in a high percentage of
functional illiterates. (I taught my kids how to read at home. They
were fluent independant readers before they were in grade 1. I didn't
send them to kindergarten, what a waste that is.) Questioned my kids
about socialist brainwashing in the schools in different subjects,
showing them alternative information, fighting against the socialistic
humanistic Situation Ethics that they try to teach little kids.
Schools teaching our kids that when there is a problem in society,
they should look to government for a solution. Government always has
the answer and the cure. GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM! Schools telling
little kids there is "No such thing as right or wrong, it all depends
on the situation and the person. You have to decide for yourself what
is right and wrong." BASTARDS!!! And we wonder why there is such a
problem with drugs, and violence on our streets? It's not just the
video games folks!! Wrote more letters of complaint to politicians.
You think I haven't already been fighting the battle????? And how
much help have YOU been????? Maybe if millions and millions of us all
tried to fight the battle, we might get somewhere instead of losing it
all down the drain!!!!!

I think that the broader thinking here has to go towards getting the
government the fuck out of our lives in general. I am so fucking sick and
tired of the government thinking it is their job to educate kids about EVERY
FUCKING THING. People who have kids make the decision to do so, so I get
tired of getting things stuffed down my throat because of what the
government thinks that "it" needs to teach these kids. Parents still need to
take care of business with things like this. I think it was wrong for the
school to hide this program, but I also think that parents who want to hide
things like homosexuality from their kids is wrong too. Being gay is no
different than being black. It is NOT a choice.

Precisely. I don't personally think that sexual preference and race
are entirely similar subjects, but I certainly believe that tolerance
for people's differences should be the order of the day.
I certainly agree that government tends to overstep its bounds, and
that the government isn't a substitute for parents.

I have to admit that I was unable to find this story in a more
main-stream news source.
I agree that the news source definitely has an agenda. However,
unless they quoted Dr. Fornero incorrectly and misreported about the
confidentiality agreement then my problem with the superintendent
still stands. Here's the quote:
Dr. George Fornero, superintendent of DHS’ Dist. 113, told CWA
that the district "made a mistake" by requiring children to sign
the confidentiality agreement and that it would be entirely
aboveboard and honest with parents in the future.
The problem isn't with the GSA presentation. The problem is with the
idea that a school superintendent would asks students to keep secrets
from their parents. That alone is inexcusable behavior. If the
parents could prove that with multiple witnesses then the guy should
lose his job. Asking students to sign a confidentiality agreement is
completely beyond the pale. That's not only insane, it's probably
illegal.
Sometimes getting upset is justifiable.

I don't know about that. A lot of parents do more harm than good in
this area, passing down prejudice from father to son. There is no
compelling public interest in preserving a heritage of hate and
intolerance.
The internet will soon surpass TV as a source of bad information with
zero credibility. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
