Past National Championships in St. Louis

This is an interesting read on the history of the Men's Open that have
been held in St. Louis over the years with the ADFPA/USAPL. I've met
a lot of the lifters mentioned, competed against (read: was crushed
by) a few and am good friends with at least one of them. Anywho,

I was chatting with Bridges at Wisconsin State this year along with
Bruce Sullivan when I mentioned to Mike that he was my powerlifting
hero when I was a kid and that I held him in the same regard as Fran
Tarkenton, Rod Carew and Chuck Foreman. Bruce shook his head with a
big grin on his face and said something to the affect as, "what, Mike
was a senior and you were a sophomore?" Hehe, I'll have you know that
Mike is 8 years older than me:-) We both moved into the same weight
classes at about the same time but I kept growing.
