Yeah, I save the lives of critically ill and injured children, and get
paid a six figure yearly wage to do it.

What was it YOU do for a living, Sparky?

I'm the charge nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit of the only
level 1 trauma center serving ten thousand square miles of four
states.

I date old rich women for money on the side.

Good, I was just wondering, you made medical commits from time to time and
you said you were a Paramedic at onetime.

Where do you live that you are the only level 1 trauma for that big an area?

I don't give medical advice over the internet. That is the unlicensed
practice of medicine, and in most states it is against the law. If you were
in fact a licensed RN or anything like that, you would not be on the
internet giving out medical advice.

Post your real name, address, photo so that we can verify that you work at a
nursing home and earn about 45K if you are lucky. More than likely you are
an orderly at a hospital and earn about $12.74 per hour.

Don't be such a kiss-ass. The odds that David is in fact what he claims to
be are about a million to one. Even if he is a nurse in a pediatric unit, so
what?

How does that qualify him to give medical advice to anybody about
weightlifting injuries, bone diseases, cardiac illness, or any of the other
silly questions that are asked?

Babies in pediatric units are what David allegedly deals with on a daily
basis, so asking him about anything else makes as much sense as googling for
medical advice.

Aren't you the sweetheart that posted "Oh good question Sparky?"

I cannot respond to Herr Cohen because I killfiled him about four years ago,
so the only time I see his moronic medical advice is when someone like you
or your pal Hansen and Gretel are asking for diagnosis of illnesses via the
internet.

Anyone that gives irresponsible medical advice in a forum such as this
should have his or her medical license pulled.

I don't want to read such crud, and I usually just ignore it except when
little miss cohen crawls out from under her pediatric rock to tell everyone
about little cardiac holes. I doubt little miss cohen would know the
difference between Hansen's little cardiac hole and the other hole Hansen
favors.

Las Vegas.

Covers southern Nevada, southeastern California, southwestern Utah, and
northwestern Arizona.

Did Sparky tell us what he does for a living yet? I did a group search for
"you want fries with that, mister?" but didn't get any results.

So then why do you idiots keep asking him about your cardiac holes and groin
injuries if you think that he is just going to tell you to see a doctor? Do
you need his permission to go see a doctor??

I am trying to think of this as an internet gym, but at my regular gym there
are a couple of doctors, a dentist, and some other medical guy and nobody is
fawning over them and asking them silly questions. In fact, they discourage
medical talk and just want to talk about lifting weights and fitness.

So when I see some dubious pediatric nurse prancing around giving medical
diagnosis I have a hard time even believing this nurse is legit.

Ah, all the disadvantages of living in the desert, AND all the disadvantages
of living in California

I may not have given Sparky enough credit. He could have mastered "you

Sorry if my contribution has not met your standards. I don't really have a
strong opinion about logs. It seems to help some people. I see some keep
logs. I used to do that many years ago, but I got tired of carrying around a
notebook to the gym. If it is helpful to you, that is good. Many things in
weightlifting depend on the individual. Asking for a medical diagnosis over
the internet is not one of them.

There aren't all that many Level I trauma centers in the US. You can,
with a quick bit of web searching, get a list. And a pediatric
certification for Level I is a separate thing.

You gotta figure some overtime in there. Cohen didn't say he was
working 40 hours x 52 weeks. He said he was making over $100,000
annually.

Overtime has got to be at least time and a half. I'll bet some
holidays are double-time or better ... maybe time and a half even if
you don't work them.

(Years ago, I got double-time and a half for working 4th of July, I
don't know if that still happens anywhere or not. But it needs to be
taken into consideration.)

I am sure Cohen could care less. I never remark about his weightlifting,
personal issues, or anything else.

The only thing that ever concerns me is when a pediatric nurse is giving
medical advice on an internet forum. I am sure he means no harm, but it
seems to me that even if he were a doctor that the most he can do is just
post his office address if he wants new patients. Otherwise, medical
recommendations of any kind do more harm than good.

If you have any kind of injury, pain, etc., then you need to go see a real
doctor in person.

OK, in all fairness to pediatric nurses everywhere, if Cohen works at a
typical hospital and he happens to be a senior nurse (base salary $74K),
then the odds are that he is clearing over a $100K including overtime.
However, thanks to my stock options at Winn Dixie, I expect to pass Cohen
very soon and live off the quarterly income.

Nobody gives us bagboys enough respect. It is always "What does Cohen think
about this?" Nobody ever wants to know what the bagboy thinks. Well, in a
typical day I lift about two hundred bags of groceries, and if anyone knows
about tendonitis, I do. I could write a book about tendonitis, lower back
pain, and wrist sprains. I have so much to give, but nobody wants to give me
a chance.

You get a few points for self deprecating humor.

David is a long-time, well-respected (IMHO) contributor. You are a
recent arrival who sounds sorely in need of a good $%*^ or a drink -
lighten up. It doesn't take medical expertise to use Google.

Seems like you're responding from my perspective, but whatever.

So all nursing professionals get paid the same? The job posting you
offer is the same position as held by who you're currently
crrrryyyying about? I suspect not.

Teacher is a profession, too. Some start at $35K while others are
earning $60K. You think that by posting a job notice stating a $35K
salary that you've magically defined the salary of ALL teachers?
Likewise the nursing profession. Or did that scenario escape you?

Plus if you have him kf'ed then why comment re him at all? Rhetorical.
I'm just practicing my idiot grinding techniques.

FUN!

I got double-time or more for Christmas or Christmas Eve while I was
working for R.R. Donnelley & Sons about ten years ago. No data more
recent than that, but I can't imagine that they're suddenly paying
straight time for major freaking holidays.

"Oh, New Year's Eve? Well, about a nickel over your regular hourly
wage?"

No.

You are getting dumber every day.

Yes, DC identified the hospital that he claims to work in, and I went to the
Wikipedia entry which has the website for the hospital (level 1 trauma
center in Las Vegas), and clicked CAREERS and voila, they have an opening
for a Charge Nurse in the Pediatric Unit, which is exactly what DC claims to
be and exactly where he claims to work, in exactly the hospital he says he
works in.
